Purchased to replace an older LinkSys router on my home mesh network (two routers). I have large ranch and cable comes in one corner, MBR in other corner (~75′ away). Unit was easy to configure and was up and running in a few minutes. All devices were able to stay connected except smartphones on low batteries. I added my newer old router (Belkin 465) back as a mesh access point and we’re all set. No dropouts in two weeks. I used to have to reset every two days. Speed is superior. ASUS has some nice apps that go with the router. They work well but some features required forgoing some privacy settings so I’m not going to use them.

This was the easiest router to set-up and configure. Most of the settings were handled automatically. This router offers greatly improved performance over my old router. Numerous devices in the houshold connected via wi-fi and a Roku player. Everything works great with no buffering on the Roku that occurred with my old router.

I bought this Asus Rt-ac68u to replace a Netgear Nighthawk r7000 i had. And this Asus is waaaaay better than the r7000. Dont get me wrong, the r7000 is a great router too, but, there was this high pitch noise everytime i download or upload something, that makes me go crazy. thats why i gave this router to my sister (her ear is not that good as mine hehe) and bought this Asus, which btw, is completely quiet. I put DD-wrt on it, and couldnt be more happy. Only downside, to me, is those little antennas that came with. I replace the factory antennas with the ones from my Netgear r7000 and i increase the range a little bit more. I have a 200Mbps internet connection (thats 25MB/s), and with my Macbook Pro retina and the AC activated using the 5Ghz band, i can reach perfectly fine the 200Mbps wireless downstairs!! Using the 2.4ghz band i can only reach 150Mbps, but i dont mind, i only use AC 5Ghz band. Dont think about it, THIS is the router YOU need.

This is a solid router. Signal strength is great. I have a smaller place and running the antennas at 50% power is more than enough to get very high speeds. I’m able to stream movies on my phone while streaming movies on a TV at the same time. Great options for multiple subnets and guest nets. Remote access is great but need to be careful with insecure connection options when setting it up. This router is faster than most MIMO routers. That’s mostly because there aren’t really any MIMO devices out there.

I was having trouble with my previous router to reliably stream audio without occasional stuttering. Not only is this no longer a problem, I can now simultaneously stream multiple movies from iTunes on another computer, stream Netflix and download at speeds well over 1MB/sec.

I use this product to do port forwarding various applications to its own server on my LAN. I like the user interface a lot and was pretty pleased with how easy to set it up. What concerned me was one time the router told me that is IP address has changed and I was not able to get to it at 192.168.1.1. I finally manged to get to it from another computer on the LAN and it has bee stable since then, (Keeping my fingers crossed) for about a week now.

This is an upgrade to our previous ASUS router which we got for the stronger Wifi signal. It’s working somewhat better, the problem is the router location is at one end of the condo and the farthest room the Wifi would drop. We’ve got better coverage now and the speed is nearly as fast as our fiber ethernet speed, so it’s done what we needed. Also seems more stable, a power surge knocked it offline, but a reset of the unit and everything was back to normal. Very pleased about that in the thunderstorm prone midwest. Excellent and easy ordering/delivery as always.

Asus hits it out of the park with the RT-AC68U wireless network router. Asus makes great hardware for computing etc. B&H shipped it me very quickly with no issues or problems. You can’t go wrong with Asus or B&H for your computing hardware needs.

I am an ASUS fan when it comes to router technology, they did not disappoint here. Easy setup and good performance across the board.

I was surprised by the speed and reliability of this router. I wasn’t expecting such great quality from it! On top of that, the router’s wifi reach distance is fantastic! Highly recommend

The Good: Fast Excellent throughput Thoughtful design Powerful firmware Easy access to files away from homeThe bad Slow at 5 feet Costly cloud syncPer Tom’s Hardware review For $ retail, the ASUS RT-AC68U offers the fastest speeds we’ve yet seen from a router, a svelte design and simple but powerful firmware. We also like that you can access your important files remotely via the AiCloud app. Those who want to install custom firmware may prefer the $ Linksys WRT1900AC, but power users looking for great throughput should buy the RT-AC68U. –earning a 9/10 ratingThis thing is easy to setup and streaming is a dream with Plex Media server….I got it through the used department and I’m VERY happy with my purchase. Hope this helps other in making a decision on this router.

I purchased this router because I kept having problems with streaming youtube and other video as well as issues keeping an extender working well with my old router. The ASUS router was fairly easy to set up and once running, my streaming problems have gone away and I have been able to discontinue the use of the extender because the ASUS router works so well. This has made using the internet with my wireless a pleasure again.

I bought this to replace my old cheapo $50 router that was having wifi disconnections and crappy bufferbloat, in the meantime I disabled hardware acceleration on the old one and changed a few settings to make the disconnections happen less often (it manages to get 300mbps with acceleration off and bufferbloat is mostly gone;) Well the new one comes in and all is good, until you realize that using most of the features you would want disables hardware acceleration, which would be fine if it didn’t get a horrible 100-200mbps with it off, listen to me when I say the processor on this thing is straight up garbage even compared to the cheapo router I have now, if you plan to use anything except adaptive QoS (which keeps hardware acceleration but sends wifi activity to a 3rd party) then don’t bother unless you have a connection speed of 200mbps or lower. TLDR: Get something in this price range with a better processor or spend $30 more for something like the newer AX3000 which supports wifi6 and doesn’t buckle under the smallest hint of pressure (the AX3000 also supports CakeQoS with the Asus Merlin firmware which is a download and 2 clicks away to install.) Final note, this thing is also really old by now, the lesson here is just because something is established doesn’t make it good !7! years down the line.

This is the third one of these I’ve set up in the same location (to expand the AI mesh network) and it’s been really straight forward. I’m no network engineer and I’ve found it pretty easy to configure these and add them as nodes onto an existing network. I like that once that’s done, it just automatically extends all the existing SSIDs and guest network I had already established.

I bought this to ‘future proof’ our house, and although I don’t have any wireless AC cards at the moment, it did drastically improve my wireless N connections. Before, I’d normally get about 195-217Mbps and now it’s consistently 450Mbps. Awesome.

The router was very easy to set up, connected ALL of my devices and even 1 I have not been able to for 2 yrs now. One of my wifes iRobots could not get firmware updates on 4 other routers put the Asus on the job and BINGO!!! Problem solved 5+++ Asus :).
