Out of the box it worked fine. The web-based setup was easy and intuitive. The WiFi is stronger than any WiFi router I’ve had previously. The throughput is excellent. Very happy with it. I like the vertical format with the cable mess on the back and a nice clean front with status indicators. The USB support is also a nice option for a remote disk drive or printer. A great unit for a reasonable price.

It’s been 3 years since I upgraded my gigabit router. This model is a major jump from my old Linksys E4200 which I now use as a repeater. The key features I like are the strong WiFi signal and the longer list of URL’s I could block via the Firewall feature. The E4200 can only block 4 URL’s. For sometime now, I tried that along with OpenDNS. But my teenagers still find a way around OpenDNS. With the ASUS router, I was able to block ALL of the websites that distracted them from studying especially Steam Games, League of Legends, Hearthstone, Reddit, and Vine. I’m still nice by leaving Youtube and Facebook unblocked. This router is a godsend to every parent dealing with kids and teens addicted to online gaming. Buy this router or even better the next model up.

Installed in a fairly large house. The signal reached further than the router it replaced but still not far enough. Fortunately, I was able to pair it with an older, cheap Wi-Fi extender (not Asus -brand) that I had been using with the old router, and everything worked like a charm.

I looked up many routers but didn’t want to spend 300. This is a great midrange router that does everything I need. I haven’t notice it running hot. Very happy with my purchase

I was using the free wifi that came free with my modem. It was a little slow when we had multiple devices playing so I installed the Asus router and experienced an instant upgrade. Greater range and more devices handled. You cannot go wrong

These routers have become a staple in my AV systems. They do a pretty good job of port forwarding. Pretty decent signal strength. Lots of features. Great SMB and FTP server… (I do wish for a properly secure FTP) VPN really good. The latest thing I am using it for is as a Media Bridge. So simple and quick to set up. Created a wired LAN for a portable rack full of gear that can also be a peer and share the Internet connection with the rest of any location’s WiFi net…

A company can go down one of two roads when it creates a new product: It can follow all the rules and regulations and craft the best product its engineers are capable of designing, or it can flout the rules and regulations and cheat its way to market dominance. This is what ASUS has done with the RT-AC66U & RT-AC68U routers. What you may not know is that Netgear is currently suing ASUS because they say they are not compliant with FCC power regulations. They claim that they monkeyed around with the results and created a router far more powerful than it should be legally. I don’t know whether this is reality were not but I can tell you from personal experience that this router absolutely BLASTS your wireless Wi-Fi signal. I had several routers in my business (I own a small bar and grill) and nothing ever gave me full coverage throughout the entire establishment. Using repeaters is always kind of dicey. I’ve tried out as well and it kind of worked but not really. This is the only router I have ever purchased that covers the entire building and gives me a very strong signal throughout. The other pros on this particular device are also equally amazing. The setup is an absolute breeze. It really does everything for you with the wizard although you can also configure it manually and it’s just as easy. This device gives you many, many options that you normally see only on high-end routers. The ones that I really like. Guest access: a very easy configurable guest access wireless separate from your other broadcast wireless. I use this to provide my guest with Internet only. They cannot connect to my server or any other device on my network. VPN access: also, really easy to set up. You will need to manually set up your IP (not use the wizard) in order to set a static IP on your router and then set up a VPN connection. It uses the standard Windows VPN client to connect to the router. I really like this. I haven’t used the Windows VPN in quite some time. I don’t know about security with the Windows VPN, I’m thinking some others might be more secure but I use the Cisco VPN client previously and had real issues with it dropping out constantly. With the Windows VPN client this just doesn’t happen. Nice interface dashboard: very intelligently designed. One of the things I like is right on the main page you get to see any device that is connected to your network and how it’s connecting. I can imagine this would be helpful in diagnosing security problems. I have had security issues but it is neat all the same. Wireless print server: I’m not using this but one of the things you can do is connect a printer to one of the USB ports on the router and then connect many computers to the shared printer through the router. Cloud storage: You can also connect a USB hard drive to the system and with a couple of clicks have a virtual cloud on your network. In short, if you don’t have one of these you should buy one immediately before any litigation by Netgear restricts the purchase of this router.

Purchased to replace RT-N66U, the RT-AC68U has greater range and more features. This is my 2nd ASUS router and I’ll buy nothing else.

A very good router, but it was version 3 and not the current version 4. It would have been nice if the detailed description provided the details.

I’m very pleased with this router. It is very fast, works very well with Comcast, and it is very easy to use and configure. Besides speed and a strong wireless signal, I like that I can easily add a guest newtork, and the VPN server feature that works with the ASUS DDNS services, so I don’t need to pay extra for a Static IP Adress.

I use this as a router for 3 computers, 2 phones, an iPad and a television. It handles the traffic well. Set up was fairly easy. The only difficult thing for me was setting up a hard drive on the router. It took some time for my computers to be able to see the drives, even though they were there and shown on the router admin control software. Eventually, the computers found the hard drive. Now I use for my back ups to my apple computers.

Used on a home network. Connects three PC and about eight network attached devices. Some wired and some are WiFi. Has required no attention since I set it up, it just runs.

I’ve bought three of these routers. They work great in the AI Mesh system with two of them as nodes.

Great router. Can handle a lot of wifi products over a long range without drops on either 2.4G or 5G frequencies.

I was having problems with slow internet service. I upgraded to this router and it made all the difference. Super fast connectivity and it was very easy to setup. Highly recommended.

I bought this with the hope that my Wireless speed would increase over my existing Linksys E2500. I went from roughly 30Mb/sec to over 110Mb/sec WIRELESS! Fantastic product and easy to set up.

Very easy to set up, better range than my old router, lots of advanced features, updated to latest firmware during set-up.

This router is sweet. Up and running in 10 minutes. Lots of options that you may or may not use but despite the complexity of what you can do with this router if you desire or the need it is a breeze to set up and use as a basic router as most people likely do.The coverage area is fantastic. I have it in the upstairs office of a 3000 Sq foot house and it gets well out to the edge of my acre property for wi fi use with my iPhone or iPad and everything inside with max signal. I use it for both Mac and PC. Can’t go wrong.
