I already have another ASUS router that has been great and this one does not disappoint either. This one was purchased for internet at my dad’s home and it was easy to set up as usual and had performed flawlessly. Highly recommended.

I bought this ASUS router to replace a 3 or 4 year old Netgear dual-band router. My gosh, what a difference in coverage signal strength compared to the old router. My house is around 2,600 sq. ft. The cable modem is in a small room in the center of my house, so, naturally, that’s where the router goes too. Coverage used to be marginal (65%) in both the master bedroom and the family room with the Netgear, but now, with the ASUS, I get strong signals (91%) on 5G, and (100%) on the other band, all over the house. Measurements were made with the Netgear Android app. Router is easy to set up with the usual browser based dashboard approach. Power users will find tons of tweaks to play with. Lots of security choices are available and the router can be locked down as tightly as one wishes. I was reluctant to spend this much money on a router, but now I’m glad I did.

Great wifi coverage for our ~2000 sq ft home – both 5GHz as well as 2.4Ghz bands. Running the latest ASUS firmware for now, looking forward to try out Merlin in the near future.

Easy setup, great coverage (I have full wifi coverage throughout a 3,500+ sq ft. house) and nice tools. I bought this based on a recommendation from a friend, and would recommend this to anyone else in the market for a new router.

This router was easy to setup, especially with the expressVPN proprietary firmware that allows quick and easy VPN setup. Would highly recommend this router.

Honestly, this was one of the easiest setups of any piece of equipment I’ve ever owned. I had it up and running in literally 15 minutes. That even included a firmware update. The web interface is awesome. It’s been on now for three weeks, and has not gone down once. This thing is fantastic. I could not recommend it more. And B&H has the best price! (as usual) One last thing…it actually looks very nice. The LED lights aren’t too bright, and the cool pattern on the outside is nice to look at. This router is absolutely fantastic. I give it an A+.

This router has to be the ultimate router becasue it does everything and is easy to set up. I purchased two other routers and returned them both. This one installed very easily and has not given a minutes worth of downtime (unlike the other ones). It is probably one of the most expensive ones out there, but you get what you pay for.

I used this router to replace an Apple Airport Express, and it was an immediate improvement to the performance of my network. I hadn’t used a non-Apple router for about 8 years, so I was concerned that the web portal for setting up the router would be a nightmare. I’m happy to say it works very well and makes it easy to perform administrative tasks. I kept my Apple router to use as an extender and the two routers play well together, including streaming audio with Airplay. I also appreciate the numerous ethernet ports, as I still use some wired connections for a few things. Overall, I’m very happy and think this router is a great value

I was having trouble with the wifi/router built into my modem so I ordered this ASUS RT-AC68U. WOW. I am surprised that it increase the effective speed of the internet on all our computers and devices. I also have it connected to several devices in my wood shop that is about 40 feet from the house. Easy to set up with easy to use browser based setup pages. This is a winner all the way around. Thank you

We had AC1900 since summer 2014 and has been fairly reliable. I update with Merlin firmware from time to time. Since we changed all carpet to hardwood, signal upstairs is a bit less. We were at the point to decide if retire this old router and move to newer ones such as wifi 6 mesh systems, but concerns that new system won’t be compatible with 1st gen circle parental control device, the demon box as kids call it, thus decided to expand coverage with additional AC1900 as Aimesh nodes. Completely reloaded the old AC1900 with latest Asus firmware, added 3 new AC1900 nodes placed in basement, 1st floor hallway, and 2nd floor. The one in basement has Cat 6 / 8 cables connected to main router, while 2nd floor node is connected indirectly via hallway node to main router by 5 GHz wirelessly. The basement node is still the most reliable one due to it is hardwired with Cat 6 / 8 cables, while the two other nodes performs really well in general. We first only had two nodes, one in basement one in 2nd floor, but 2nd floor node had rather weak connection to main router and will drop off from Aimesh system from time to time, so we added 3rd node (hallway) to bridge the gap. Aimesh works, we don’t have super fast internet (200Mb download, 5Mb upload), and AC1900 still work well with new and old computers and devices at home, including iPhone SE2 with wi-fi 6. Circle parental control (demon box) works well and is still essential to us. Aimesh is like automatic transmission. It will automatically decide which node is best for particular device. So if move around with iPhone or device, Aimesh system will shift nodes to provide best connection to device. The shift is fairly seamlessly. download speed is good, even at worst corner location, we can still get 150Mb, enough for zoom meeting, etc. The app provides additional info that can remotely monitor real time. Combined with 192.168.1.1 it will give user a lot of data and controls. The new Aimesh capability and app bring new life to this old but reliable wireless router design. Added usb powered box fans behind each router / node to relieve the heat generated. The box fans can be powered by router’s USB ports. Overall pretty happy with Aimesh system. Glad B&H still carry these units with competitive price.

Replaced a 4th generation Airport Extreme with the ASUS RT-AC68U. Configuration was very easy. Updated the firmware version with ease. Turned on both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. I keep public off until we need it. The public access can be configured with a limited life. 1 hour for example. Reduced the number of IP Starting-Ending Addresses. All of our wireless/handheld devices have a manually assigned IP based on MAC. Signal strength is excellent 80 feet away from router. This is outside of house. The ASUS appears to be marginally stronger than the 4th gen AE in this regard. The ASUS router has more function than I need right now.

Setup was easy, but I have setup a router or three in my time. Router interface is packed with all of the expected settings, and more.

Doesn’t perform any better than my 5 year old router. Puts out a lot of heat, will make a nice space heater in the winter.

Am using it with an arris cable-modem and am impressed by its range and versatility (VPN server/USB drives etc.)! So far (been using it for a week now) I have not had any issues with stability but this remains something I’ll keep monitoring; I have pretty heterogenous clients that include apple products (MacBooks/iphones etc.) and pc’s (Dell). I suppose it doesn’t look as cool as the Apple airport routers but then you also don’t pay their design premium and (for the technically inclined) get a lot more configurability.

This is my second ASUS router and they both were very easy to install and provide unbelievable range. I have a three-story house and the route is on the 3rd floor. The first level gets very good coverage as do my connections on my deck more than 75′ away. I would buy another one.

The router works well but is not as proficient at streaming content over either the 2.4 or the 5 frequencies as the Asus RT-AC3100 which this replaced in my home office.

This device is a plug and play. I updated the firmware and installation was a snap. For the first day it worked well with strong connections on multiple devices throughout the whole house. The signal strength is unmatched. The second day, the router failed. I worked with Asus tech support and we reset the router. It would function for about 4-8 hours before failing each day. It was on, but I could not access the wireless or WIRED connections. I am returning it to determine if it is simply defective as to the conclusion of Asus Support. Asus Tech Support is ineffective and has difficulty communicating.
