Boost the speed, reliability, and range of your home wireless network with the RT-AC68U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit Wi-Fi Router from ASUS. Capable of up to 1900 Mb/s of total Wi-Fi throughput, this dual-band Wi-Fi 5 router supports AiMesh technology, which lets you use multiple AiMesh-enabled routers together to create a single, seamless Wi-Fi network.
The RT-AC68U comes equipped with a Gigabit Ethernet WAN port and four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, ideal for wired connections to computers, game consoles, TV set-top boxes, or another AiMesh router. USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 Type-A ports let you connect printers, storage devices, and other USB devices to the network. AiProtection Pro service helps to defend your network from online threats, while parental controls let you decide how and when your kids can connect to the internet. Up to three guest networks let you grant Wi-Fi access to visitors without having to compromise your Wi-Fi password.

Thie router is used for my home network. It’s been fast and reliable so far–we’ll have to see how it’s doing in two years (the average useful life of the last couple of router I had). I was disappointed in the documentation. The wording was not overly clear and you’d think for the prices thay charge they could have some one clean up the grammar. As a result it took my quite a bit longer to set up than it should have.

I am a little disappointed about the router. I purchased a version 4 router, but ASUS replaced it with a version 3 router after the version 4 router stopped working. Not sure what the differences are between the two routers. If someone could clarify, that would be appreciated. Nevertheless, I do appreciate getting the router back so quickly.

Asus consistently provides high-quality hardware. The AC68U might not have all the latest features but it is rock solid and can be easily upgraded with replacement antennas for better range. Another great benefit is router-level ad-blocking with Asus-Merlin firmware and Diversion.

I bought this mostly for the USB3 connection to hang a hard drive off and access from any device. And while this router is probably the best at supporting this, it was challenging to first find the settings to configure it (hint, its the samba server), and b) it isn’t very fast writing files. So while the 256M memory and super processors are great, the memory is still insufficient to give really seamless performance reading and writing files. Still, I guess for the price, it will do, particularly given that I don’t want to get a file server.

Recently purchased as an upgrade for an older router. My goals were increased wireless throughput and handling of my increasing wireless devices with security as a priority. Wireless speeds have increased markedly and the beam forming is track able as I move around the house with a live monitor on a lap-top. The firmware is very configurable and easy to understand. Has good security perimeters (IMO) and test well with common network tools. Only been up a week so I hope for a long life, runs great so far. This is a great deal on a solid router

Bought this to replace my Asus RT-N56U.Range is about the same at 2.4ghz but better at 5ghz vs my old router.Speed is much improved. I’m getting 500+Mbps download from my 2013 MacPro to my Synology NAS. As a reference, I get 850 Mbps between the two using wired ethernet.This router has all the options you could want and works great with custom firmware. Currently, I’m using the excellent Asuswrt-Merlin firmware.Performance thus far has been rock-solid with no slowdowns or unexpected reboots.Tim Higgins rates this router and the Netgear R7000 both tied at #1. He says it comes down the whether you prefer one brand over the other.
