This is what it took to finally get good coverage throughout my house and RV. I also have an AX-RT3300 router with several repeaters that were not cutting it.

I will preface this by saying, I have owned 10 routers in the past 10 years, all worked to an extent but never to there specs, this router is totally awesome and coupled with the Asus adapter, this baby is reaching over a GBs, within my home network, 4.500 sq. concrete and plasterboard walls.

…because it is an excellent piece of equipment and it works great. unfortunately, I needed several calls/msgs to get everything hooked-up. written instructions are not user friendlyl, especially if you dont know much about this stuff, like me.

I was hesitant to purchase this router after seeing that it was made in 2013, but honestly the firmware and features have kept up really well with the times. This router just works. If you’re wanting to take advantage, it certainly offers a deep dive of customizable features through asus or asuswrt-merlin.

I’ve had my share of cheap wireless routers and various limitations and issues. More devices including phones and tablets in addition to computers, small troubles start to bother you on daily basis. I looked around for options and picked this over Netgear AC. And I’m quite happy now.

Was looking to replace my old 802.11g. Did not care for the high price nor the funky mothership designs of the current top-of-the-line 802.11ac routers from Asus or Netgear. This little fella on the other hand can sit on your computer desk without looking like a rejected prop design from the Aliens movies, is mature, stable, and solid. Signal is strong and speeds seem good, even with encryption enabled. Stock firmware is a little weak (not too many options, e.g. hardware firewall and port forwarding), but I’ve reflashed to Asuswrt Merlin and it is way improved. Also wish it came with 8 LAN ports instead of just 4, but alas poor Yorick.

Ease of setup and reliability. Coverage in a large home even when the router was placed in my basement. Every room upstairs had NO issues. This baby blasted my older Netgear router. It completely lived up to all the great reviews. 🙂 P.S. I use a Mac system. Consistently Praised for Networking Excellence!

This router is used as the main access point in our home and we’ve been using it constantly since early September without any issues. It regularly has 2-3 computers (Apple and Dell), 2 phones (Apple and Android), a Nest thermostat, a Nest cam, and a DVD player (Panasonic) connecting to the internet. The ability to have 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks at the same time allows better performance for the computers, phones, and Nest cam on 5GHz where there’s less interference from other nearby routers. The in-house 5GHz range and speed is great as long as there aren’t any walls between the router and device (expected with 5GHz). Outside the house the 5GHz range drops off fast. The 2.4GHz range inside and outside the house is great. This is my first time using an Asus router but the web interface control panel is pretty nice and everything was fairly easy to set up. We don’t use any of the more advanced features, but it’s nice to know they’re there (particularly the QoS feature) if needed in the future!

This router can do anything you want it to do, out-of-the-box. Plug it in, set it up, upgrade to latest FW and enjoy fast and reliable connection 🙂 5GHz band is amazing – now I can stream 20+GB mkv FullHD video over the air from any DLNA device in my home to any, all smooth.

Great Router. Set up was no problem using included disk. It has a strong signal on 5g as well as regular Wi-Fi. I would buy it again.

I am using this router as a wireless access point for my Verizon Fios service, so I am not utilizing many of the available features. What I can say is that the set-up was a breeze, the user interface is simple, clearly laid out and intuitive. I owned a couple Cisco / Linksys routers previously and was quite happy with the GUI they offered, until they switched to the so called smartware web based interface, which never worked for me. The ASUS interface is superior. My previous Linksys EA4500 router had not provided the wireless coverage that I had hoped for and the WiFi transmision speeds were often erratic, even at close range. The WiFi signal from the ASUS is strong – I cannot find a location in my home (almost $4,000 sq ft) where the coverage is lacking. The WiFi transmission speed is solid, and pretty much matches my hard wired ethernet connection. My two sons, who are the biggest users of streaming videos in our household have noticed a significant improvement. Overall, a very satified customer. If you are considering this router, but not sure about the cost, go ahead and buy it, you will not regret spending the extra bucks! Service from B&H was also top notch as always.

Excellent. It works great and the speed very fast indeed.

I received this as a gift. After major unreliable connections, I wondered if it was radio RF interference from my existing Comcast – xFinity provided router. After I replaced it a Motorola SURFBOARD SB6141 modem all was well. I would give 5 stars if ASUS would warn customers.

I bought this ASUS router because I my VPN provider recommended it for their router-based VPN. As advertised, it was easy to set it up, and the VPN is currently working flawlessly. And B&H gave me fast delivery as always.
