Boost the speed, reliability, and range of your home wireless network with the RT-AC68U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit Wi-Fi Router from ASUS. Capable of up to 1900 Mb/s of total Wi-Fi throughput, this dual-band Wi-Fi 5 router supports AiMesh technology, which lets you use multiple AiMesh-enabled routers together to create a single, seamless Wi-Fi network.
The RT-AC68U comes equipped with a Gigabit Ethernet WAN port and four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, ideal for wired connections to computers, game consoles, TV set-top boxes, or another AiMesh router. USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 Type-A ports let you connect printers, storage devices, and other USB devices to the network. AiProtection Pro service helps to defend your network from online threats, while parental controls let you decide how and when your kids can connect to the internet. Up to three guest networks let you grant Wi-Fi access to visitors without having to compromise your Wi-Fi password.

This is a replacement for an ASUS N66U router that died. This model adds AC wifi frequency coverage, along with a faster CPU. Installed Merlin firmware, which worked without issue on the prior router, and is running fine now on the AC68U.

Been using Asus RT-AC66_B1 for last 3 years. It has everything (VPN, AIProtect, gteat Windows app.) Cost $95. Wanted an additional router, for a spare. Purchased Asus RT-AX3000 for $180. Finally got Wi-Fi working. Loaded in some NordVPN sites. Would. lose internet connection after 10 seconds, Returned RT-AX3000 to B&H for refund. Purchased ASUS RT-AC68U. Cost $130. Been working perfectly for last 2 months. Now, RT-AC66_b1 is spare. The interface seems identical. The cases are different, The RT-AC68U stands upright, needs less desk space. To log-in, download Asus Discovery App. for Windows. Or else, type 192.168.1.1 in browser. I couldn’t make Asus Android App even download.

This is for a home network with 10 different computing devices accessing at any given time. ASUS seems to have done their homework very well. No speed problems, bottlenecks or other complaints. Setup was easy, more options would be nice, but, overall very good!

Great product if you want to use just one or if you are OK with a second router’s guest WiFi having access to your wired network. Asus says all you have to do is disable the intranet on the guest network and it should work. It does not, no internet access.

I updated the firmware and installation was a snap. It worked well with wired connections from the start. It never worked correctly with wireless devices. I worked with Asus tech support and we reset the router. We had to connect/disconnect wireless devices to the router 3 or 4 times before the device would show on the routers connected device list. Asus Support told me this was normal. Not normal for me. The devices would function for about 10 minutes before dropping from the network. A new DELL windows 10 laptop never could connect Wi-Fi. Asus Support recommends returning the router to determine if it is simply defective and try again. Asus Tech Support was ineffective.

I just signed up for 60 meg internet service and knew my old router would limit me to 300 mbps. After doing extensive research, I ordered the RT-AC68U router and an ac Asus 1200 adapter. The setup was so simple, I kept thinking that I had missed a step and all my devices would not be able to find the new router. All I had to do was name the network and provide a password and that was it. I could not believe my eyes the first time I did a speed check without using the new adapter. I was getting the same speed (630 mbps) as I was when testing wired. Of course, I checked to see if I had disconnected the ethernet cable and found that I had disconnected it. I thought, This thing really cooks!I took my laptop to the farthest point away from the router in my house. Previously, I could not receive video streaming there. When I tested the speed, to my surprise, I was receiving 300 mbps there with no lag or drop in streaming. I am not going to have to use the adapter and am perfectly satisfied with this router. I wholeheartedly recommend it to all that want the best router experience they have ever had.

Before I purchased this router, the one I was using was eight years old and going strong. At least that is what I thought with nothing to compare it to. Even though the old one was working fine, I thought it was time to put a crowbar in the ole wallet and upgrade to something newer. What a difference! This thing is so fast I actually feel like I’m getting my moneys worth out my internet provider. It was a breeze getting it hooked up and running as well. You can do a lot of different things with this router if your willing to read deep into the owners manual or all ready have a technical mind. Can’t wait see see what Asus comes up with when I’m ready to upgrade in another eight years!

purchased this with asus usb-ac56 adapters. I upgraded firmware for both router and adapters prior to setting up network. I purchased this router for a wireless streaming requirement in a temporary house for several devices, streaming 20Mbps each, and it handles it all with ease. ac56 utility reports 867Mbps speed band ac. it is stable enough to enjoy streamed br movies, but there are other times when the connection backs all the way down to g. these sketchy times are few are far between, but I am sure it is not the router or adapters. I consider this router and adapters dependable and worth the price.
