Recently purchased Synology 214+ and immediately felt the bottleneck of old Belkin N+. Did some research between ASUS 68U vs. latest Linksys AC1900 router and we decided the ASUS 68u perhaps better fits our needs (More mature firmware updates / bug fixes, great 2.4Ghz performance with old computers, great GUI, overall well-rounded performance on all categories). Linksys AC1900 may exceed if uses as NAS, but since we already had dedicated Synology 214+ it is no brainer to choose the well balanced ASUS 68U. When hooked it up, first thing we did was loaded with latest ASUSWRT Merlin firmware. Set up was a breeze and all devices (tablets, smart phones, home and work computers, TVs, Blu ray player, NAS) work like charms with noticeable throughput improvement. As expected most significant improvement was on 13 MBP retina with wireless ac; On windows 8.1 computer with wireless n I have seen max download speed peeked 50MB/s sometimes. I also noticed my work computer download speed via VPN is noticeable better than before (It was pain working on large files over VPN before). Even the old computer with wireless g downloads pictures / plays movies faster from NAS than using the old Belkin N+. The signal strength is pretty good too. Even keeps the default 80mv setting, I can get decent signal / throughput in basement (Belkin N+ struggles more). Besides, I am impressed with ASUS interface (Nice thing about Merlin is that the firmware keeps the feel and touch of excellent ASUS GUI), very intuitive, responsive and straight forward. Overall very happy about this product. Highly recommended.

Eliminated dead spots, great coverage easy to hook up. Using this with the Centurylink modem, which would not cover my entire house, but now I get the same speed everywhere in the house.

Replaced an older NetGear model that was getting sluggish. We live in a 3 story brick row house and placed it on second floor. Works throughout the house. Laptops, tablets, and our one streaming TV all work at the same time. Nearly called ASUS support on the set up, but I got it right on the second try. Was dreading switching off old router, but got it done in 15 minutes. B & H has consistently good deals and fast service.

This was easy to install and set up the network. I now have a strong wifi signal through out the entire house and good signal in the yard. My smart phone stayed connected 100 yards away from my home. Awesome shipping from B&H..

This router is great easy set up. But be warned when you are making the password for the router do not go over 8 digits. If you do it will never leave you sign in when you restart it. the wireless has good range and speed. Getting 56.40 wireless thirty feet away in another room on a 60 Comcast plan

As my old RT-N56U was getting a little long in the tooth, I decided to upgrade to this unit. Initially it worked great. Better coverage, faster speeds, what else could you want? In the last few weeks, I noticed that the system was getting a little flaky. I spent the better part of a day troubleshooting. ASUS tech support was of little help. Ultimately the upload speed dropped to 3mbps (while the download was unaffected) whereas the WAN connection can deliver 35mbps. I finally reinstalled the RT-N56U and the speed performance is back. It seems, however, that one of the LAN ports on my old router may have died. Waiting to see how ASUS wants to handle the replacement of this unit.

Even better than I expected. Single story house it sets on one side and hits all the way to the garage. Nice performance and didnt take me long to setup manually. I am sure the wizard works well to.

So far so good. I’ve been using this router for several weeks and it works flawlessly. I love that there are 2 wi-fi names my family can connect to… the regular 2.4ghz one and the new 5ghz as well. I do feel this more powerful router is working better on extended ranges. I have a very high bandwidth intensive household and am pleased with it’s performance (mobile phones, smart TVs, Netflix, online gaming, family laptop, and I work from home fulltime (I/T job) using 2 computers.

This unit was purchased to replace my functioning but old router. Installation was easy despite the fact that I am VERY digitally challenged. There was an immediate increase in speed. I routinely look at videos on my laptop or phone from either floor in my home and at distances of 60-70 feet through multiple walls (and brick)- no problem at all. I’m sorry I waited so long to move up.

It’s an amazing router that has everything necessary to handle serving VPN, streaming, ad-blockers, etc. The Broadcom chip and dual core cpu never blink. And it’s got 2×2 antennas so I”m still able to pull amazing wifi speeds.

Replaced a 4-year-old router with this one after it began failing to connect with tv and peripherals. This took over an hour to setup but I made a mistake in putting in an internet password when I didn’t need it. Otherwise setup was smooth, internet loading is faster and all the peripherals work!

ASUS software is easy, works, fast, so far no glitches on both 2.4GHz and 5 GHz. We haven’t exercised many features. Is capable of IPv6 internal routing and 6in4 tunnel over Hurricane Electric. So far, pretty good. We will eventually set this up with DDWRT, but for our present application it worked out of the box with minimal effort, which is what we need for this site.
