Enjoy low-latency, stable connections, and faster throughput with the RT-AX56U AX1800 Wireless Dual-Band Gigabit Router from ASUS. This router utilizes the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, 80 MHz bandwidth, and 1024-QAM modulation to boost total network speeds to 1800 Mb/s. With 2×2 MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies, the RT-AX56U can deliver two dedicated upload/download streams per band, and pushes data to all connected devices simultaneously rather than in sequence. Additional features include free lifetime security, mobile power saving technology, and AiMesh whole-home network support. This makes the RT-AX56U an ideal choice for a busy home with many devices, and a need for fast, stable wireless internet access.

Both bands, 2.4 and 5, are noticeably faster than my previous N300 router. And I am only running old client devices that do not yet use wifi6 protocols. On the 5GHz band, my tablet sometimes gets 200Mbps, which is excellent at my house. The web app user interface makes it easy to administer the parameters. So I am satisfied with my new router. My tablet and 5GHz connection goes through gypsum walls with no difficulties. I have great connectivity throughout my whole 1500 sq. ft. house.

I needed to extend some wired ethernet ports to some IOT devices. I used an RT-AX56U setup as a mesh node to do this. Setup was a snap, performace A1

With the increased number of WiFi clients increasing above 30, my old RT-AC87U was dropping out clients regularly. Needed a way to divide up bands to have fewer clients per band, AX would certainly help. I meshed the router with a ASUS ROG GT-AX11000 as master through Ethernet. 1G Modem was on the AX11000. I’m getting almost full modem speed at the Ethernet port of the AX1800. Devices roam without issue between the routers. No more drop outs. All WiFi clients at excellent signal strength now. Setup was easy. Nice iOS app for quick checks.

Pretty much plug and play. Follow instructions for setting up three passwords: one for your account, one for 5G, one for 2.4G. One thing I hadn’t anticipated is that my older wifi Roku and HVAC controls aren’t compatible with the 5G, so I had to use the Guest 2.4G.

I recently installed a smart internet-connected thermostat. Actually, these types of devices aren’t so smart, they are LAN weak points that are susceptible to hacker attacks. I needed a new router that can separate this and similar devices from my central computing equipment and resources. This Asus router offers multiple guest accounts which are isolated from my central LAN. I devoted one of those to my thermostat and accomplished my objective. An unexpected benefit has been a significant increase in internet throughput. My old router tested at about 65Mbps which is consistent with the 60Mbps account I have with Comcast. This new router tests at up to 120Mbps and this is not a measurement fluke, web sites load faster and my Netflix client also reports throughput above 100Mbps. I’m pleased with this router and its the user interface. Everything was easy to set up and understand. I think I’m going to enjoy this router for several years.

After a couple hours of poking around, I decided on this to replace an ancient Fios router in the basement of our 100-year-old two-story bungalow. It’s got the range to cover my wife’s office on the other side of the house and up a floor, AX connectivity for current and future devices, and a USB3.0 port for data + a USB2.0 port for easy sharing of our 18-year-old all-in-one laser printer. Our DS220j NAS likes it just fine. Setup was a breeze. I could not ask for better!
