Use the ASUS mobile app to configure the router with guest network options, mobile gaming device prioritization, and more. Additionally, the RT-AX82U supports ASUS Aura RGB lighting that can be customized with a variety of dazzling effects. A USB 3.2 Gen 1 port is available, which allows you to connect devices such as an external storage drive to share throughout the network.

Having little router expertise, this was way more complicated to set up than my last ASUS router. Many devices wouldn’t work with WPA3. Trial and error. Turn of this, devices work/don’t work. Turn on that, other devices work/don’t work. I get that this is all complicated stuff, but geez.

Easy set up and solid connection, We were having endless issues with a netgear router so when with an Asus because it came recommended from friends. Set up was fast and easy and I have been able to tweak things how I want on our network without a problem. Def recommend!

Was easy to set up, at least I didn’t experience any issues. And it has performed great since I set it up. I love the RGB on the front. That doesn’t add or take away anything, just a nice feature.

A couple of power outages bricked my Asus AC5300 (which I loved BTW). After a little research it looked like to send it in to ASUS to get it fixed was going to be about as expensive as getting a new one. So I opted for this RT-AX82U. It was super easy to setup. Linked all my home gear (6 Google pods (wifi), 2 4K tvs (1,wifi, 1 hard wired), 2 Desktops (hard wired, printer (hard wired), 2 cell phones (wifi), AT&T fiber modem into it and am getting great speeds on everything. Besides its look like a cool UFO when the lights are blue, and a Cylon space fighter when the lights are red. Thanks ASUS!

The install/set up was very good. Learned how to separate the 2.4 & 5 wifi streams as separate networks for the watering system access (limitation of RainBird!). During the setup was able to name the networks and set up new passwords. This unit was so much better than the 6 month old Neatgear unit that was a lot more expense that this new ASUS WIFI Router (RT-AX82 also called an AX5400 Dual Band)!

The router was quick to get up and running. However it was difficult to get functioning with some of my devices. The router software is vast and well laid out, but maybe is not for the novice computer user. I’m still having issues getting my connected USB hard drive to function. I don’t see a fast and easy way to access files. I’m not looking to use this as a media server, I just want to be able to read all of the data on the drive. I guess I’ll have to spend more time reading the technical documentation.

Router is easy to setup and flawless when used as an AiMesh node. The only complain (but not sure if it is completely cause by this router or the upstream router) is that WiFi signal drops once couple times a day for few seconds and them comes back. Again not sure why or if due to my setup.

I was using a Netgear R8000 that was getting tired and intermittently dropping out.. I have been a fan of and using Netgear routers for over 25 years. I bought this router after reading reviews. I’m really glad I did. It’s speed and performance are unbelievable. We have Spectrum 200 meg internet service. I’m getting the exact same download speeds throughout the house wireless as I do wired. Range is awesome. I have always had dead spots on the patio and in the garage. Those are now gone and I have full coverage both house and yard. Would recommend this router to anyone, gamer or not. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
