Built as a cloud storage device for live streaming and content creators, the AS5202T 2-Bay NAS Enclosure from Asustor is powered by a 2 GHz Intel Celeron J4005 Dual-Core processor, 2GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM, which can be upgraded to 8GB, 4GB of eMMC flash memory, and dual 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet slots that can be paired through link aggregation to deliver speeds of up to 5 Gb/s. Peripheral connectivity is achieved using one HDMI 2.0a and three 5 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports. Four 3.5″/2.5″ SATA III drive bays provide ample room for storage, and the drive bays can be configured as RAID 0 and 1, each of which provides performance gains, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not require a RAID, JBOD is also available. If your storage needs grow, up to three AS6004U expansion units can be added on for a total of 14 drive bays. Other integrated features include 10-bit HEVC/VP9 4K hardware decoding, AES 256-bit encryption, and more. Included are two RJ45 cables, eight flat head screws for 2.5″ drives, an AC power cord, and an AC power adapter. Protection is provided by a limited 3-year warranty.

I bought the AS5304T in part so that I could use Surveillance Center to monitor my surveillance cameras. It turns out that Surveillance Center works only with Windows, not macOS nor Linux. This NAS works ok for backups, but if I had known about the limitation on Surveillance Center I would have looked for a different product.

Software is intuitive, drive trays feel a little brittle. Performance is good, 2 2.5Gbps is excellent. Would recommend a foam pad to sit on if noise is an issue. Also enterprise drives are noisey.

This may be a fine unit but until I get it to work I will not know. The Asustor NAS was delivered on August 17, 2022. It’s now September 13, 2022, and I have not yet been able to achieve a fully functioning unit. It was not made clear to me at the time of purchase that you must have a good understanding of NAS/networks to set up this unit and get it to work. Asustor only provides technical support over the web through a ticket system. Response times have been days to a week, and they often just reference me to their online tutorials of which they have over 80. That’s good but I did not want to take a course in NAS to get this thing to work.

This replaced a filed QNAP T-251+. It is much faster and simpler to manage. There are less apps, but it works so much better as a basic NAS. The EZ Sync software has a couple bugs that have workarounds, hence the 4 stars instead of 5.

User/Install instructions are vague. I have 30 yrs exp in network setup for SOHO and I still can’t get it to send notifications to my AT&T email. Got it to send to the iPhone App, will make do with that. It’s a real Chatty Cathy, too much info!

I am running this NAS with two 6tb iron wolf drives in a Raid 1 config. So far so got. It was easy to set up. The things I had to learn were the different ways of creating backup schedules, mapping network drives, using some of the apps and how to use the Cloud access via the internet, but that would be similar with any other NAS. The NAS looks good, performs well, currently only serving the role of remote storage but I do have it connected to a keyboard and monitor so that I can play around with its HDMi capabilities. I have tied a few of the Asustor mobile apps to access the Nas remotely. So far so good. I like it but I don’t have any previous NAS experience with other products. I pick this device to have future proof hardware (i.e. 4 bays for expansion, Celeron quad core and ram upgradeability as well as 2x 2.5gbe ethernet ports

Purchased this as a replacement to my older Western Digital NAS. Overall, the setup was pretty straightforward and easy. The OS is a little complicated if you’re used to the more simple WD interfaces, although this is much more powerful. It has some great apps you can install for all kinds of uses. I’ve had zero issues since setting it up as a RAID 5.
