The 2-Port USB DisplayPort KVM Switch from ATEN lets you control two computer systems using a single console set featuring one DisplayPort-enabled monitor, keyboard, mouse, and pair of speakers. The KVM switch is DisplayPort 1.2 compliant and supports DisplayPort dual-mode (DP++), which enables you to use optional powered adapters that convert the connector into an HDMI or DVI interface. Video, audio, and USB cables are included for connecting the KVM switch to two computer systems. In addition to supporting mice, its USB mouse port is compatible with user-supplied USB hubs and peripherals.
Once connected to the host system, the KVM switch delivers up to 4096 x 2160 visuals and 2.1-channel surround sounds. For switching between the systems, you can use the remote port selector, mouse, or hotkeys. Moreover, the switch is firmware upgradeable and powered by the host system’s bus-powered port.

There is a little lag when switching between the 2 computers. It doesn’t like it if one of the machines is in sleep mode.

Aten knows how to make KVMs, but their Displayport units are lacking. The main problem is that it does not store the Monitor information from the monitor like their DVI units do. Every time you switch, the PC has to readjust the image. It is a mandatory feature to retain the monitor information, so you can switch smoothly. Unfortunately, this unit must go back.

I was really excite to get a KVM that supported 4k at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, this unit didn’t work for my setup. I’m using a monitor that only has HDMI and this unit requires a powered displayport to HDMI adapter (which costs over 50% over what the units price) . The audio controls on my keyboard didn’t work when connected to the machine, and when I tried to shutdown my machine it work restart instead. As soon as I removed the KVM from the setup shutdown worked normally. Returning and continuing the search for a KVM…

I bought this item to facilitate switching bettween using a Mac Pro, and a Windows 10 PC. The unit works pretty much as described, although I found that the only way to use the hot keys to disable mouse emulation as described in the manual, was to use a PC keyboard. A more anoying aspect of this unit is that it is often necessary to press the Port Selection Pushbutton several times to get the unit to switch the Display Port, and USB. Also, it would be a nice improvement if this unit were USB 3 compatible.

I have this switch set up to allow me to switch between a Retina MacBook Pro and my tower gaming PC with Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card, and it performs the job very well. Previously I had a similar setup using an IOGear DVI+USB KVM switch between MacBook Pro and my older tower PC, with just a DVI-to-DisplayPort adapter on the video cable to the Mac. For the new setup I bought a DisplayPort-to-mini-DisplayPort cable for the Mac (could have used an adapter but the cable was $10 and it’s less… lumpy… this way.) I’ve only been using it for a week or so, but it’s working great! Comes with all cables, which seem to be solid quality, and fully bus-powered – small and light but seems well made. The older IOGear DVI+USB2 switch wasn’t as expensive as this when it was new, but I guess that’s the price I pay for going 4K. I did my usual research on all available DisplayPort + USB switch options before selecting this one, and I’m pretty sure I made the right choice here. If you’re trying to drive a 2K or 4K monitor from two DisplayPort-equipped machines and share a mouse and keyboard between them, this is the ticket.
