For tree work I once depended on electric or gas chain saws, but found them very hard to maintain and adjust, and dangerous to me and any bystanders. I spent alot on the chains that quickly became dull. I now do work on trees up to 14 inches thick with a reciprocal saw with extension cord power. The blades are much cheaper and can be replaced in seconds. A reciprocal saw is lighter and more suited for work from a ladder. A big plus is that I can use blades that are made for metal to cut fenceposts and other light pipe. I also reduce metal lawn furniture and barbeques for disposal in the trash by cutting them up.
