This brand, the avante Pro is the least expensive spade bit that’s available in the store. They work quite well and they do what they’re supposed to do. And the cost is reasonable.

Not being a carpenter by trade I cannot attest to how these bits would hold up to everyday use but for the projects I did use them on they worked great. I didn’t have drill bits big enough for the holes I needed to drill, but instead of buying larger drill bits I decided to go with these spade bits. I’m glad I did. I used them on 1x and 2x boards and went through the material at lease twice as fast making really clean holes. Very impressed. I own other Avanti Pro tools so I trust the name. I almost went with the upgraded style speed tips but read some negative reviews so I decided on these “old style” tips. I don’t regret it.

I needed a good clean hole bit. The side Barbs did the pre-cuting just fine and allowed me to go my own speed through the wood. My other Spade bit set is Self Driving (Threaded center point) and would tear up the wood too much.
