A non-traditional (flat-bottomed) wok, this piece of cookware will provide plenty of room for preparing stir-fry as well as more conventional meals. With a major diameter of 13 ½ inches and a 6 inch diameter “flat” center, there is room for direct and indirectly heated areas. Although made of a thin (spun) cast iron, it is not a lightweight, coming in at about four (4) pounds, however, the long, tubular, stainless steel handle provides a well balanced and leveraged grip. A secondary stainless steel “helper” loop handle is provided (should the combined weight of the wok and the food contained within be too much for one hand), however in most cases it will not be necessary to use (see video below of the wok, in use). The wok has a ceramic based non-stick coating which is rated for 600 degrees F, which, in normal use should not be exceeded. Although the ceramic coating is not PTFE based and does not outgas on heating, as with most non-stick surfaces, it prevents any oil or butter from “spreading out” in the pan. Additionally, the inside surface of the pan has a swirled texture which also impedes the flow of oil on the cooking surface. Although I only had the opportunity to use this on a gas stove, the manufacturer indicates that it is suitable for all types, gas, electric and electric-induction. No cover is provided, however, if one desires to, for example, steam vegetables, aluminum foil can be easily used to cover the top of the wok. It should be possible to use this wok in one’s oven, though the greater than 23 inch overall span from handle to handle may prelude its use in smaller ovens. Although there was a dearth of instructions one way or the other, it must be assumed that any coated cookware be used with wood or plastic utensils to prevent premature damage. The use of non-abrasive sponges is recommended by the manufacturer to prolong the life of the pan, as is the wiping of the wok with canola oil prior to each use. Clean-up after using was quick and easy. The wok has a “limited lifetime warranty” , however, other than a caution that “food sticking to the pan is not a warranty issue” no details of limitations are provided with the wok or on the manufacturer’s website. The only thing preventing a “fifth star” for this wok is the lack of long term in-service use to determine the longevity of the ceramic coating. On all other counts this will make a nice addition to one’s culinary tool chest.

The perfect wok! This is great for any chef or casual cook who needs a wok. This is so sturdy and of such high quality, I would recommend this to anyone. The cast iron “bowl” of the wok is very thick which really holds the heat in the pan while cooking. This is ideal, because you want to fry and cook dishes quickly in a wok without losing too much heat. The size of the wok is large. This is perfect as you typically need to keep the food moving around when cooking in a wok, and the large size prevents food from spilling out. This is just perfect for cooking fried rice among other dishes. I really like how it has one long handle. This is easy for gripping and control.

This was my first purchase of any BergHOFF products and was purchased to compare against my existing wok. Overall I was pleasantly surprised. This wok is well made and has a nice hefty feeling to it. The internal cooking surface was the best surprise. When cooking, very little oil or butter is required as the surface cooks the contents with minimal loss of oil or butter during the process. Cleanup is easy and requires little effort.I am now a fan of the BergHOFF brand and since purchasing this wok have now purchased a 3 quart cast iron dutch oven and a 10-inch cast iron frying pan.

This was a great addition to my kitchen. I make my own Chinese food often and always wanted a good wok, but could never afford one. This has a nice deep bowl so you can make quite a bit of food at a time in it. It heated up quickly and evenly, nothing stuck in it, and it cleaned up with little effort using a non scratch scrub pad without soap. Everyone who needs a professional wok should get this one. Cast Iron will last a lifetime if taken care of, and if your strong enough to lift them, there is no better cooking vessel. This has a ceramic coating on it, but I never recommend you soak cast iron in water no matter how good a coating it has on it, or how well you season it. I found it also works as a good deep fryer because the oil pools in the bottom so you use very little of it. By moving the food constantly, it cooks faster and the oil covers it all. I recommend buying some nice large spider and mandarin strainer tools to go with this. Also, if you have arthritis or hand/finger injuries, this may be a little too heavy for you to lift. Overall, this was a great wok, and I was very pleased with its performance.

This wok is great to cook in. It’s pretty big but I wouldn’t want any smaller, unless maybe I was only cooking for one person. It’s easy to use and easy to clean. The tall sides keep the oil from splashing out everywhere. I like that it has an extra handle on it so that you can grab it with two hands because it is very heavy. The handles also stay cool while you cook so you can still touch them.

GEMINIS 13.5 IN. Wok is my latest addition to my kitchen arsenal. Although it’s cast iron, don’t let that sway you away from it! It’s not your traditional cast iron, it’s spun cast which makes it quite a bit lighter and with the ceramic non-stick coating your getting the best of both worlds. Heats up nicely and can be used on all stoves including induction. I use it for more than just stir fries. A good product!
