First time using this it failed to hold pipe from slipping no matter how much I tightened the jaws.

Had my vise for about Five years – then it broke – used the vise regularly for house / garage projects – under normal to moderate use it broke- i had a pipe clamped in there , pretty tight – after several minutes i heard a pop- and the vise developed a weak point and broke – for around the house it is a decent product – the DIY guy or shadetree mechanic – but this made in china product would NOT hold up to professional or commercial use –

There were other vises that looked the same 5″ multi vise with similar dimensions The Irwin $79, HFreight $69. Grizzley $83. Yost $140 too expensive and this one Bessey $89. pay attention to the weight of each as that will give you an idea of the construction Irwin & HFreight 33 pounds,, Bessey came out at 44 pounds same as the Grizzley almost ordered the Grizzley from Sears $98 total but was identical to the locally available Bessey. I got the Bessey and love it especially the rotating vise. I was crushing the ends of 80 3/4 emt conduit with an old 4″ Popular Mechanics vice, not bad but after about 45 pipes slowly noticed it started to get worn out rough screw and loose jaws, figured it would break soon, so started looking for a newer vise. The Bessey really clamps down hard and crushed the ends finished the job with no problem and the rotating vise came in very handy its heavy and tough, the finish is kinda rough and so is the action but should break in nicely as you use it. If you get one take it apart and grease the base the screw and any moving parts it makes a big difference smoother action. I highly recommend it Little pricey but heavier then the others and was in stock locally at HomeDepot..

pretty good for china. the handle on the side of the vise does nothing. I guess its for looks.

Excellent vise. Smooth operating. Easy to use. Good size anvil. Only negative was rotation lock handle was bent upon opening the box. Tried to straighten it as much as possible.

Lock jaws for pipe are life savers…small in size but will be a third strong hand…

Check the on line inventory. Said store didn’t have any. Happened to be at the store that afternoon and they it in stock. Bought it as a gift for my son. You can use it as a regular vice or it flips around and can be used as a pipe vice. Good price made in china.

I like this vise because it locks even when the rotation set screw is loose

This is a medium duty swivel vise. It is well constructed for a home vise. It was a little stiff out of the box but a small application of grease fixed it. It does not come with mounting bolts.

A bit large for my workbench, but it really does the job. I like the swivel feature. I am able to rotate the vise to hold objects of different shapes while allowing me to be able to work without reaching. It seems to be well built, fairly easy to swivel. Jaws hold tight.

Works very well so far no complaints

Been a good vise for general gunsmithing tasks. Very tight and unlubricated. Had to take apart and treat with Molykote 77.

Read some of the reviews and I just about didn’t buy this vice. It’s a decent vise.. It holds stuff.

This was a gift for my husband but he loved the versatility of it. It rotates for wood or pipe and is very sturdy and secure after mounting.

I needed a bench vise with the capability of holding odd shaped items, specifically pipe that I was threading. Right out of the box it seems robust enough and the action is smooth. I was able to easily hold the 1/2″ pipe in several orientations which made the threading much easier than clamping vise grips in my wood vise!I’ll definitely use this for much more than pipe. Great value for my money.

This vise meets the purpose for a multitude of home DIY projects. The vise is a substantial piece but is made if cast iron. Anyone who has worked with cast iron knows that it does not have the tensile strength of steel and can be brittle and subject to fracture if excess stress is applied eg. heavy hammering or excess clamping beyond the rated 300lb pressure. If used with reasonable attention to the mfg. recommendations this tool is a must have for the homeowner. If you need a stronger vise for heavy work then you will need to spend a great deal more. For the money it cant be beat.
