Pretty much what you expect from a bar clamp of this size. My only regret is just buying one.

I have several less frequently used benchtop power tools (grinder, scroll saw) mounted to 3/4″ plywood baseplates. I originally bought two of these clamps to secure them to my workbench when needed. The baseplates and the underside of my benchtop both have machined recesses to accept these clamps and assure that the set up of the tools is repeatably secure.I also found this size and style of clamp to be superior to both the T-track (After a couple of years it began to get “sticky”) and the C-clamps (the tommy bars always seem to get in the way) I’ve been using to secure the fence for my router table. In building a new router table and fence, I decided not to impair the integrity of the tabletop by machining for t-track or a miter slot. I just use a pair of clamps to secure the fence to my router table. I decided that it would be most convenient to permanently build a pair of these clamps into my new router table fence. So I had to buy another pair for the benchtop tools. These are sturdy, the jaws always match up, and for purposes of setting up my fence and benchtop tools, the clutch on the movable jaw speeds set up because it limits the range of adjustment. (By this, I mean that the movable jaws are infinitely adjustable within the full six inch range, but you have to depress the clutch plates to move them. When setting up a fence, I want the movable jaws to stay within a much narrower range of movement so that setup is just a matter of slotting the tools in place and making a quick turn on the clamping handles without having to slide the jaws into range. This most recent set has plastic/rubber composite handles, which I find I prefer to the wooden handles on the older set. In all other respects, I have no reason to doubt that these will be as durable and long-lived as the older set.

Bought this clamp because of the composite tips on jaws. Worked beautifully on my wife’s jewelry armoire – not damaging any of the wood or finish. Very versatile with the deep throat too. Highly recommend especially for work needed where wood finish is a priority.

Really an excellent clamp. I own DeWalt and Jorgensen 600 and 1000lb clamps, and although reasonably good, they have deficiencies the Bessey does not. The pads on the former come off constantly much to my continual frustration. The pads on the Bessey clamp stay put every time! The finish on the DeWalt and Jorgensen clamps easily chips, unlike the Bessey. The first day I used a DeWalt, the rivet at the end of the arm sheered off; the Bessey rivets seem much heavier duty. The upper jaw of the DeWalt has a very slight angle to the surface, presumably for heavy loads causing the steel arm to flex a bit. Unfortunately, that design characteristic also encourages the clamp to wander when you first start to tighten it. The Bessey will not do this, at least in my experience. There’s little difference between bar clamps from a number of popular vendors; Bessey simply took care of all the annoying little details the other manufacturers ignored. I’m looking forward to expanding my collection soon.

Most Used Clamps in my Rack. With a rack of sixty Bessey bar clamps and thirty other special use and brand “X” clamps, I certainly did not need these heavy duty small 6″ clamps; so I just started with two of them. I now own six and my co-workers are adding them to their clamp racks as well. Great for securing tool to a work bench, fabricating drill press jigs, chop saw blocks, and edge sander stops. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that they work well for clamping wood also. Great Bessey quality and usability combined with a deep throat and heavy-duty mechanism for secure holding power.

I have four other Bessey bar clamps in two different lengths, I bought this 6 inch bar clamp, and will get one more 6 inch bar clamp. I use two to mount a 2″ x 8″ x 8′ pressure treated board with a vice attached to the corner railings of my deck, when working on a project requiring a vice. They defiantly work well for a lot of projects.

These are great clamps to have and I usually pick one up whenever I am at Home Depot. You can never have enough clamps as a wood worker and these are great for general purpose clamping.
