I do like the drill, small and light but have issue with the discription on the add! add states under ” batteries included” it says “yes”. while I have always believed that batteries is plural and means more than one, it means only one to this advertiser and at a cost of almost $50. I was very dissapointed in what I received. I think Home Depot owes me a battery (singular)! I will not return the drill but will think long and hard before I buy anything else on line with them!

Our old 18v NiCad drill driver finally gave up the ghost recently so we decided to try out this new Black & Decker Autosense drill driver. It takes a little getting used to the fact that there is no speed or torque control. This drill has a touch panel on the top that allows you to select between drilling and driving (with the latter activating the autosense technology). The trigger can be gently squeezed to control the chuck speed which is helpful when starting the screw into the wood. The drill is lightweight and the angle of the led work light which is built into the front of the battery pack is very useful and illuminates more of the work area than our other drill/driver with a built in light which sits behind the chuck.I found the Autosense feature to be very useful when it worked and frustrating at other times. I tried driving screws through 3/4″ plywood into 2 x 4 lumber when I was fitting a back panel to a work cabinet. I drilled pilot holes for these screws before hand and it worked like a charm, with the screw heads flush to the paneling as in the demo video I included with the review.I also hung a small blind into a wooden window frame and found the driver to be a little unpredictable. I pilot drilled the holes again however while the smaller woodscrews that came with the blind were only 3/4″-1″ long, the autosense kicked in with about 1/2″ still left to go and it can be a slow process to get the screw all the way in. If you release the trigger and start again, the Autosense doesn’t kick in at all and the bit spins out of the screw head once it is fully screwed in.The battery charges quickly and an LED indicator on the top of the drill shows remaining power. The charger is small and compact and simply slots on to the battery once it is disconnected from the driver body. It is the smallest drill/driver charger I have yet used and is only slightly larger than a mobile phone charger.About a week before I got the new drill/driver I hung 3/4″ plywood panels on our garage wall and used two drill/drivers to counter sink the pilot holes. I only wish I’d had this drill driver for that job as the Autosense really does get the screw heads flush with the work surface.

Do not believe the negative reviews. This a very good drill and I’ve used many others over the years. The auto sensing technology works well. I just used it on a 500 sq ft deck project.

This is a well built, lightweight and very ergonomic drill. It is nice and compact allowing me to get into tighter spaces than most drills. The autosense technology actually works. The battery charge indicator is a nice feature also. I wish the RPM was greater than it is for drilling but it works nonetheless. Battery life seems pretty good as well. I will probably buy another.

I love the light weight and being smaller it is much easier to get inside small spaces to drive screws where my other electric screwdriver could not. It is easy to work on big jobs driving many screws – my hand and arms do not get tired like they used to using the older and heavier model. The battery is a good fit for it as well and lasts well. I like the ability to use it on other tools as well.
