I was generally pleased with this mower, except for the operation of the mower height adjustment. All of the settings between below 6 and 7 would not hold in place, and slid out of the slot and the mower dropped down to position 1.

They all work well, but I would like the batteries to last longer in the mower or to come with more batteries.

I love it. Light weight and just plain fantastic

Adequate power. Lasts long enough for my small yard. Cuts well, and doesn’t bog down where I wouldn’t expect it to. I’ve been mowing lawns my whole life and have killed plenty of gas powered mowers by pushing them too hard into too tall grass. Other reviewers mentioning lack of power are waiting too long to cut their grass and not cutting at an appropriate height. However, one huge issue is that it’s terrible at mulching. Might as well not mulch at all. It leaves huge pieces of grass, very disappointed in this one aspect.

I’ve used this mower three times. Transitioning from a corded mower is great! Although it does tend to bog down in high grass, It seems to have as much power as my old B&D corded one. Assembly is easy and the quick release mechanism on the handles makes folding it for storage quick and painless. One battery does last for 20+ minutes, and it comes with two. I found that the foam padding on the handle was cut when I opened it, so I immediately taped it to keep it from spreading – a shipping or manufaturing problem – not a big deal for me. I do miss the flip handle from my corded B&D (kept the discharge pointed in the same direction regardless of direction of travel), but I am adapting. Overall, I am very pleased!

This is my second B&D CM2040 mower – the first one was a field test model that worked very well. The new one is even better, including better batteries (Ah 2.5s) that last longer. The mower with TWO batteries is fine for an average-size lot, i.e., 1/4 acre. The height adjustment feature and the fact that the handles can fold over twice are particularly good. I haven’t had any experience with competitors products, but I feel that this mower is excellent in all respects.

This machine is lightweight and easy to handle. The batteries only last 30 to 40 minutes each, but overall I would rate it good to excellent.

I just bought these 3 and I was able to mow, edge, and blow both my front and back yard on a single battery. Product is perfect!!

After about a year of owning this, I can put in a real review. Its light weight, much quieter than a gas mower and easy to maneuver. The batteries charge in about 2 hrs but grass over 4 inches does tend to bog it down. The sensor that’s supposed to give it more power doesn’t really do it, even slight moisture in the grass will make the battery drain quickly. You either have to raise the height and do mowing twice or break until the batteries charge. I’ve got a small lot and I can finish the front and back if the grass is dry and short. One of the batteries was dead otb and black and decker was so reluctant to send me one…not to happy with their treatment of a longtime customer. Once the battery heats up in the mower, the charger will not charge it till it cools off, so trying to charge while using the other batter really does not work. Overall its decent but I think I’m going to consider Ryobi from now on.

Got it on sale a- I have a small lawn and it works well – hardly used any battery and very easy to set up and use – we will, see about the longevity but for now I am very happy with it.

I bought the mower to replace my 10+ year old B & D cordless. With the old mower I could mow the back section on one charge and, occasionally the front as well, depending on the height of the grass. With the new mower I could not finish the back section and had to buy another battery to accomplish that. On the other hand, it is easy and quick to charge up the Lithium Ion batteries and mower is a lot lighter than the old one. So with the extra battery I’m satisfied with the new machine, but it did cost much more than expected with the third battery purchase.

This was bought for a relatively small lawn that needed a very light weight machine. The height was set and remains on the second highest setting and this is the only mower ever used on a brand new lawn from seed which, here in California, is mowed weekly for 9 – 10 months out of the year. It has just enough power to cut the grass well but does “bog” down (electric) where the grass gets thick. Also, it is very inconsistent with picking up debris such as twigs and pulled weeds with a tap root. One of the batteries has been replaced as it stopped charging after about six months for some unknown reason and the flap at the back of the deck broke off. Am currently trying to find the parts to fix it myself. Still, it is mowing the lawn fine and is super light weight and that is what was important. Finally, I love that it folds up nice and compact for tidy storage. If you have a good sized or even averaged sized lawn I would stay away from this mower and get one that is self propelled, unless you are looking for a little bit more excercise. Where it asks if I would recommend to a friend I am putting “no” but it really all just depends on the lawn.

I own this mower for more than six years. My yard is 100×55 =5,500 sq ft. One charge can cut the yard if you do it every week. I collect the grass clippings to mulch my garden. I have nothing to maintain, except I sharpened the blade. The height adjustment is the absolutely one touch control on the right side. Noise – none to talk about. I paid $449, but I hate maintaining a gas engine with messy engine oil and then keeping the oil in my garage until I have enough to take to the recycle center. Stress free as you do not wonder if the mower is going to start.Problem: When I needed to replace the battery I had a hard time finding a replacement. Black & Decker needs to do better. Next it is required that the battery is kept plugged in all the time. Better cordless will come along but I am happy with my B&D.

I’m totally pleased with my BLACK+DECKER 20 in. 40-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Lawn Mower. I got rid of my gas mower and had the Black and Decker 19 in. rechargeable mower (plug into the wall outlet) for about 15 years and it never really wore out. When I put in a new lawn in the Fall of 2019, I decided to upgrade and gave my old one to my very appreciative neighbor. I love this new one and the features and charging process. The edging is great and the two batteries each last forever and are so easy to use. The mower was easy to assemble too. As a woman, with a chronic neuro-muscular disability, having a lawn mower that is powerful but very easy and quiet to operate, easy to prepare and keep clean, works like a charm, and never stinks or leaves pollution in the air or in your face — it’s all good!

Light and easy to use., and cuts quite well, but even with my small lawn the 2 battery’s are barely sufficient
