Bought for my husband. He loves it and used it almost immediately. It is both wider and lighter than his older corded mower. Was able to mow the entire front yard on a single battery.

except for the squeaky rear wheels when mowing, worked great and light weight compared to my old electric mower.

It came with a battery that didn’t work but Black and Dekker sent me a new one

I purchased this a few weeks ago and so far, so good. This is the first battery powered mower I have ever owned. The batteries last about 15 minutes each so you don’t dally while the mower is operating. I have it down to being able to mow the front and back without needing to recharge. It is so much lighter than my previous gas powered craftsman – I don’t know how long it will last as if feels a little “cheap” but I do appreciate not needing a cord or can of gas to make it operate. The lawn looks great when I am done and I even let the gardener go last week.

Purchased this 40vMAX to replace a 15 yr old B&D electric, corded mower. Larger blade, wider chassis and UNPLUGGED! Love the suspension control, accessories, runtime and storage for cell#2. 30-40min range on cell#1 – plenty juice for me.

I have had this mower for one month and I love it. It is so light weight and easy to use I mow my lawn every few days. I have a small front yard and when it starts to look uneven I pull out the mower and give it a quick once over. There is a safety key you put in, push the button and pull on the safety bar and it starts running. Two days ago my battery went dead and I just reached down and put in the second battery that comes with the mower. The mower went from what sounded like a full charge to stopped. I like this feature because I don’t have to worry about the grass not getting cut clean because of a low battery. The other thing I like is the blade cutting path is outside of the wheels. This allows you to get right next to the fence, bricks and house.

Works well. Only concern is that one battery is not sufficient for my very small Midwest bungalow size yard. Good thing it comes with two batteries, as you will need the second one every time.

Very little assembly in that most was simply to fold and secure in place.

Pros: Simple to use; light weight; does a good job mulching, mowing. Cons: Battery power not enough; runs perhaps 20 mins with one battery; one may need up to 3 batteries as backup for mowing a big lawn since discharged batteries heat up, and need to be cooled down before they can be charged.

Very happy with the product — once I received one that worked.I ordered this mower online through Home Depot. Was a bit disappointed to see the lack of care in shipping (the box was banged up a bit) and when I got it home and tried to fire it up, the power briefly engaged and then quit. Called B&D customer service and ran through the troubleshooting steps to no avail. Fortunately, there is a B&D (actually Dewalt) service center near my home. They guessed the mower had an electrical connection issue and took the mower back with no fuss and ordered a new one for delivery to my home. They advised that the stated 6-8 week shipping time would be more like 2 weeks and, lo and behold, the new mower was delivered within a week.It soon became obvious from seeing the replacement mower packing materials that the original mower I received through Home Depot must have been previously opened and repacked. Anyway, the replacement mower started right up, no problem. Based on one mowing only, I really like this product and would recommend it to those with lawns that aren’t incredibly thick. It’s quiet, lightweight, powerful enough for my needs (I’m retired and expect to have time to cut the grass frequently so the grass won’t be too thick), and one battery was plenty enough to cut my small lawn (it comes with 2 batteries). I suspect that it would be powerful enough to easily cut a thicker lawn than mine but that’s just speculation. Just a couple of small nitpicking points: this is my first non-gas, plastic body mower and so I am used to beating my mowers up pretty good. The plastic framing used on this mower is sturdy enough and definitely NOT cheaply made — but if you’re used to banging and beating up your gas mower, you probably need to shift your thinking a bit to ensure longevity with this expensive mower. Again, it doesn’t “feel” cheap at all; it’s just that, simply put, plastic ain’t metal. Also, I am used to dragging a gas mower backward (yes, I know it’s not safe but there it is anyway), and dragging it back roughly when I did, without much regard for the back flap dragging under the mower. With this mower, once again I needed to shift my thinking as I’m not sure how much rough treatment its back flap will endure. So, in short, I really like this mower a lot and, based on one mowing and its ease of use, storage, quality and effectiveness, I would have given it 5 stars but for having to go through the hassle of returning the first defective one I received.

I’ve had my B&D 40V mower for several years and I’m very happy with it. The batteries don’t last very long in heavy grass, but it beats the heck out of gas powered mowers that are forever breaking down and hard to start.

Ordered this for a lady in her low seventies who is very active. She loves the fact that the tools are so easy to use and do an excellent job at the same time. The lawn mower is so light and easy to push. It also will cut higher grass with ease. She can weed eat, mow, and blow off the sidewalks with the two batteries that came with the set. The weed eater did lose a part on the shaft and we had to tape it so it wouldn’t come a part. I’m so impressed with the mower I still give it a 5. I wouldn’t buy it if I wanted it for a big yard.

I love this mower. No electric cord or gas to buy. Just plug in a battery and go.

Replacing the one that we burnt out the motor with so much rain the last few years. It does help to have extra batteries if you have a 1/4 acre yard though! It’s quiet, but it works well even on hills and thicker grass.

I have a large lawn and it takes both batteries to get it done. But this mower is amazing! And I never have to think about gas, oil, air filters, etc. And I like not needing to wear ear protection while mowing with this mower – it is so quiet. The blower is adequate and the trimmer was a real surprise performer as well!

So light now bc of the 2 small batteries instead of 1 large battery from my first B&D cordless lawnmower I bought in 2012. So much easier to handle. Simple to assemble. Love this purchase.

First, they are very light weight and easy to use, which was huge plus for me.Trimmer works well and blower outputs decent amount of air.You can adjust the power setting on both the trimmer and blower (lower power = longer battery, higher power = less battery but stronger output). Now, I was surprised to see the mower only go on for about half of the front yard (but I had the height setting to 2). So I felt little upset that two packs of batteries won’t last long enough to mow the whole front and back yard. But when I adjusted the height setting to 6, the battery seemed to last longer.Overall it’s a decent set.Just wish battery would last longer…

This is a great mower and I use it often. Only CON i have is the battery life. 15 min tops and the battery runs out of power. Even with two batteries there isnt enough power to finish the small area I need it for.
