It’s much easier to get a job done without calling landscaping people, my yard about 70 min worth of trimming, its a good exercise and with this BD trimmer it’s easy with no gas and smell, just need a good quality 100ft cable. I did a total of 3 trims this summer and used only 1.5 reels of line, my advice is to get one extra replacement reel and a large generic 0.8mm line reel with 200ft, while one in use you can roll another one for your next job. Even if I have to replace this trimmer in 2-3 years its a cheap alternative for DIY job

The ease in which you rotate the lower end could be better. When rotating the lower trimmer unit, frequently have to grab the unit to complete the rotation instead of being able to easily rotate it just below the handle. If you can handle this modest shortcoming, the results with this unit are very desirable. Can achieve crisply trimmed edges along both hard surfaces (sidewalks, driveways, etc) and softer edges (landscaping beds). I have been using Black&Decker corded electric string grass trimmers/lawn edgers for many years with satisfactory results. Recently having to purchase a new unit, I upgraded to this unit for the higher 7.5 amps and thicker cord, feeling immediately trimming/edging was better and crisper then previous models.

Some other reviews here expressed the same problems I found within the first hours of using the trimmer; the feed of string is terrible. There seems no no rhyme or reason as to why or when the trim string is extended. It is too short, too sort, too short and all of a sudden full length again and you’ve over trimmed. Other than that is seems like it would be ok. I believe I’ll be returning it.

I bought this lightly used from a neighbor. I am so happy with it. It has the power to get the job done quickly and the AFS is great. I LOVE the edger wheel! Such an easy way to get a professional looking line. I used it in several different ways – tall weeds, edging, borders, thick ivy – it never hiccuped and the string never broke. I did speed through line but when i came here i read about not “blipping” the throttle. I definitely did that a lot as I wasn’t comfortable with it yet. I will work on smooth, open throttle use going forward.

The manual instructions were very poor about how the automatic feed works. It was not explained anywhere. I plugged it in and it did not seem to feed out to the minimum length. I needed to go to Home Depot and ask how to get it to feed. No one there knew immediately either, but one of the staff fiddled with it and got it working. I just needed to wait longer for it to start feeding, but the process was very frustrating.

Just reverse the line in the opposite direction and you lose any line to the auto feed function. You can also just duct tape the auto feed lever on the bottom and this will also disable the auto feed function. Powerful trimmer better than my gas trimmer in terms of cutting power.

This weed whacker is a work horse. Just pull the trigger and it’s ready to go. Easy clip let’s you adjust to edging in seconds. This tool is easy to handle and easy to reload with the quick pop in spools of trimming line. This product is worth getting. I’ve used it a couple of times already and really like it. It cuts fast, the line automatically extends to the right length so never need to worry about stopping to rewind a loose line. I highly recommend it.

The trimmer/lawn edger is light, and it worked great. The curved shaft makes it easy to get hard-to-reach areas and the guide was helpful to make our yard look pretty. Only problem is that it comes with very little weed eater line. We had to get some more in the middle of the job.
