Pretty good string trimmer. Easy enough to put together and to use. Very effective at trimming thick long grass and non-woody stem weeds (not good for mature weeds, with thick woody stems like mugwort). One complaint is that the spool ran out of string after about 40. min. of trimming. That was disappointing. But other than that I recommend this trimmer.

As has been mentioned, the string release is very poorly designed. It releases way too much line when you don’t need it to, so you wind up either replacing the line or the spool (whichever way you do it) every session or so on an average size lawn. Wish it was controlled by the user. Two tips that may help: get it up to full speed before you trim an area. Especially fence areas. It seems to save a bit of line that way. And (2) keep it as far away from your work area as you can and still trim. Trimming with the last half-inch save some line as well. You don’t need to buy spools. It’s fairly straightforward to wind you own if you practice a bit. Saves a lot of $Leaving out the line hassle, it’s actually a good trimmer. I like everything else about it.
