It took me several minutes to figure out how to connect the handle. Once I got it positioned it went together just fine. I like this trimmer because it is lightweight but gets the job done. This replaced my former one of several years ago because the blades became dull and it was the same cost for a new one than blade replacement unfortunately. Supposedly you can sharpen the blades but I have never had luck with that with other tools. I looked at the cordless but they are heavier and battery replacement is quite expensive. I am just more aware of the extension cord so I don’t cut through it.

This is a great trimmer and I think the price is very fair. I’ve used this all summer long and it hasn’t faultered at all. The motor is able to chomp through all my shrubs with ease. I’ve even had it chew through some thicker branches and maybe it takes a few more seconds to do so, it eventually cuts through. You can’t cut through a 1 inch branch for definitely smaller branches can be cut with ease. Putting the handle and guard plate on is the only thing you have to do. It’s easy but be sure you don’t overdo it or you could strip the threads. You’re screwing a metal screw into plastic so be careful. I like the hook that provides a secure way to hold the cord so it doesn’t unplug from the trimmer when using it. No extension cord is included so you’ll need one to use this right away.

It has been about a month since I bought the Black and Decker Hedge Trimmer. With the Arthritis that really bothers me, I was able to do the trimming around the home instead of hiring someone. I already had an extension cord for other work around the garage, so I plugged it in and was able to do the trimming in hardly any time at all. I bought this a few weeks ago and have used it to trim a number of current plants. It cuts through a half-inch stalk smoothly. I find that the switch must be depressed fully to fire, which is a little bit of a pain.

The trimmer is lightweight for a woman to use. It didn’t cut through branches more than half inch in diameter very well, but for thinner branches, it worked great. The 20 inch blade is easy to maneuver and balance so the size was perfect for me. A longer blade would have been too awkward and a shorter blade is not effective if you have to reach far from you.

The lock down switch does not keep the motor running without keeping the hand switch depressed.The hand switch requires constant pressure with your whole hand and is very tireing. Unlike my older model which had a trigger like switch which only required the use of the index finger. Much less tireing than useing the entire hand.

I had just bought the Black and Decker hedge trimmer and was trying to use the lock on switch that it states in the information online about it but can’t seem to figure it out. The manual does not say it has a lock on switch. It states that you have to hold the switch down for continuous running. One of the reasons I bought this was for the lock on switch but I am disappointed that it doesn’t have one when it specified online that it did.
