I bought this kettle 20 months ago, very pleased with it first year: Speed of heating heat resistant handle, fairly small footprint of the base and the thumb triggered lid opener. Then the lid gradually refused to stay closed, even when pushed down, so steam escapes at top. In last two months, it no longer switchs off if picked up when still heating. Is the switch wearing out ? If I forget to manually turn it off will it boil dry and be a fire hazard?

We were given this as a gift over 5 years ago after our other kettle stopped working. Ours is still working great. Starting to see some build up on the bottom inside. Looked into purchasing one with a filter but the comments were all iffy. I am sticking with something I know works. No special bells and whistles but only need it to shut off automatically and boil water. Does the job and lasts long. Love it.

Worked great, very fast to boil until the spring in the catch to the lid broke. So now the lid stays permenantly open. Time to return to store : ) Although we have had the product for around a year & do not use it very often it was a great product until then.

Like others here, the switch broke so it will only heat if the switch is held down. I suspect even that won’t work for very long. It’s been a good kettle for 10 years. I only wish replacement parts were available.

I have had mine for a few years and have had no problems with it. It heats a full pot in a short period of time. The ability to pick it up without a cord attached is great. A person broke the on switch, so it is hard to start, but I have used it for more than 3 years with no problems.

I have just tossed the 2nd one of these in 3 years. Seems like just past 1 year the on & off switch breaks.

I enjoyed this kettle, but I too cannot find a replacement base. So, unfortunately I can no longer use this product.

I had it for a couple of years until the on/off switch mechanism decided to broke. I searched a replacement part everywhere on the internet, but no chance 🙁 I have many Black & Decker appliances and tools at home, the family always trusted the brand and I knew it since I was a kid. I don’t want to throw the kettle away because I know it still good. Your help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

This kettle was in use daily, until I accidentally melted the bottom of it on the stove… I have searched the web extensively trying to find a replacement base and cannot. I do not wish to throw the pot away, but it is useless without the base. I wish the parts were readily available ANYWHERE! If anybody knows how to get the base replaced, I sure would appreciate them sharing the info with me.

I loved this product… purchased one for my home… purchased one for myson’s home… purchased one as a Christmas gift for a friend after she admiredmine! The pot performed beautifully and safely for a year or so. Then, the lid no longer closed tightly. This faulty lid allowed steam to come out of the top and causing the water to evaporate. My question: Have there been complaints of this type before? Or is my pot faulty? And, finally, is there a way to fix the pot? Or is this planned obsolesence?Your question: would I recommend this product to someone?I have in the past – but now I would have to add the problem of the lid with my pot.

This has lasted us three years but in the past 9 months the auto shutoff has not worked. We can’t find parts and can no longer use it.

I have used this kettle for two years now and I’m very satisfied, totally easy to use and I love the auto shut off, no more worries about leaving the kettle on the stove and subsequent problems that action involved. Also, for me it’s way cheaper than using gas.

Sits right next to the coffee pot in our home. Heats water fast. Looks good. Sturdy and durable. I have had it for over a year and it looks brand new. Nice screen to filter water in spout. Nothing else. Not fancy but works great.

I bought this kettle for college about 10 years ago. We just had rho their it out today as it is leaking over our counter. Never had a problem with this kettle up until this past week. Great buy, looking for same model here in Northern Alberta

This product is great except after three months the bottom starts leaking, I returned the first one, now the second one is leaking. I just want to know why after three months the kettle starts leaking at the bottom? What can I do about it?

My husband and I were deliighted to finally find the cordless kettle we were looking for. We even bought one for our son. Got it all set up, and although the short cord is a great feature, it barely reached the bottom of the receptacle, and besides that we could not move it out from under the cupboarod. Consequently our cupboards were all steamed up!!! It didn’t matter where we tried to plug it in, the same problem. My son couldn’t believe that the cord was not longer. As he mentioned who doesn’t have a receptacle under your cupboard!!! Unfortunately we have had to take both of them back and start over!! Any suggestions.
