Absolutely love this Black & Decker 13-inch 40V MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless String Trimmer with Battery and Charger as it does a great job and the battery lasts for trimming about 1/2 acre of grass and weeds. Lots of power just like my old electric trimmer. Love the fact there is no more extension cord! It now takes me half the time to trim my lawn. Small battery and easy to recharge.

Great trimmer! Battery lasts a long time between charges.

Excellent trimming features. Loves edging on cobblestone driveway.

As a former Black & Decker employee, I am a loyal fan of their battery powered lawn equipment. They are easy to use and work well for the average size lawn.

This is my favorite trimmer. Couldn’t give it a 5 star excellent review because bpth times I’ve used it , the handle has moved positions even though i have it locked into correct place. Not sure who to contact to get a replacement handle. My exact same previous handle never moved or slipped out its position.

Does an adequate job on grass and smaller weeds. Tougher plants present difficulties and would best be handled by a more powerful unit or gas string trimmer. Good for suburban lawns as it is light and can be adjusted easily. The battery will last approx one hour of fairly continuous use; my unit took almost 2 hours to fully recharge. The kit would benefit if the machine was altered to take a shoulder strap which would make the unit less tiring to use for longer tasks.

Had an older model of this one, decided to try it when my mom needed one since mine was pretty good overall. So far it’s not bad, but definitely not as good as my old one. This one doesn’t have variable speeds/power levels like my old one, and the manner in which you switch to edging mode isn’t as easy. Weighting seems a little off too, its either a little too heavy or the product isn’t balanced as nicely, making it too heavy at handle for comfortable use.As far as performance, seems to handle the job so far. Charge lasts enough. There’s a few people online that claim charge is poor, but I seriously doubt electric trimmers of this price range are made to last longer than the average trimming load of a yard. My moms yard is a good size, and it handled all of that one one charge.

Lightweight, easy to get battery out and good recommendation for women.

I am a 5’4 woman and wanted a trimmer to use that I feel comfortable with. This is it. Just as advertised. The battery is long lasting and when it runs out I’ve had just about enough trimming so it’s perfect. The string seems to be long lasting too! I highly recommend this for small to medium weed whacking jobs on your property.

We had a B&D trimmer for 9 years. It was small and light like this one, and performed very well over those 9 years until the feeder stopped working correctly and went through $10 worth of string in a single use. I may have been happy to find an exact copy of that trimmer but I really wanted to get rid of the older battery technology and move up to Lithium-Ion.I also have a battery powered 15″ larger, heavier, weed-whacker (not B&D) which works great for our annual tall weed removal on half of our property but this smaller lighter model works better for grass edge trimming.I already had two 40V 1.5A B&D batteries for other garden tools, and I was pleased with the Black and Decker brand. I researched and this model seemed to be closest to the one I had. It takes the same string so I could use what I already had on hand. The head can easily be flipped for edging or flat trimming. The handle is extendable. The handle mounted hand grip can be positioned in multiple slots. These features help as I can adjust it for my adult size and my 10-year-old son can adjust for himself. The battery has no trouble providing all the power I need for the 200 feet of edging I need to do each week. As indicated the string is automatically fed. From past experience a roll of string will last me more than a year and is quite easy to reload. This product is the right price, is a great value for a homeowner with a small couple of lawns, and it does the job well.

Pros: automatic feed of the line good and it cuts well. Cons: very heavy to hold regardless of how you adjust the angle. Battery takes 4 hours to charge and lasts only 40 minutes. Replacement batteries cost as much as buying a new unit.

Replaced my gas trimmer with this model. Does our 1/3 acre property and patio.Larger property would require a second battery. Will require replacement line fairly quickly, the spool doesn’t hold a lot of line. Its nice not having to deal with mixing fuel and pull starting, like the previous trimmer.

Perfect edger and strong battery.

The trimmer works very well. Easy to use. It isn’t as heavy duty as 40 Volt 2.0 ah B&D trimmer I had before that stopped working after the first year.

Yes I’m very pleased with the trimmer, I had ordered the 60v it was way to heavy for me, the handle didn’t adjusts so it too long and too heavy. This one is good for women, I am 5′ 1″ .

Powerful 40V lithium-ion battery. I have a very large area that needs trimming every week and this model gets the job done. Well designed.

After 10 years using my 24v Black and Decker I’m looking forward to my new 40V version. My first few times have been great

The trimmer works well, but the battery life leaves something to be desired. I am unable to complete the necessary trimming for the entire yard in one charge.

Really lightweight and pretty powerful tool for the size. We are able to do the front and back yard with one charge. The edging tool was not quite powerful enough for our clay soil but it did clean it up a little bit. Overall would recommend for the price!
