This trimmer is pretty powerful. I was using 20V B+D trimmer and Toro corded trimmer, but this is by far more powerful than those two.I am just a homeowner, so professional series trimmers are not really for me. Small guard, non-rotating heads are something I want to avoid. I thin bump feed might be better than auto feed, but that’s not a big problem. But usually, homeowner grades have only single 0.065 lines and lacks in power. So in that regard, I think this trimmer hits sweetspot for me.In power-size, high speed, which I rarely use, is really powerful and cuts thick weeds without any problem. But I found even low speed is more than enough to do most of my lawn work.Only problem is, it comes with 1.5Ah battery, and it doesn’t last very long.B+D should know that string trimmers use a lot of power, so they include bigger battery or 2 batteries in their 20V line up. But 1.5Ah in 60V? This is something I don’t get. With 2.5Ah, this could be a lot better, but still, I like this trimmer. One thing to note is, the charger comes with this can charge 20V batteries as well, and it looks just like 20V fast charger. So if you want additional charger for your B+D 20V tools, this can be very useful.

The machine and the battery worked great. The replacement spool of string that came with the second battery did not fit. We are long time satisfied Dewalt/Black and Decker users and expect better from such a respected business. The replacement string spools are the most trouble free way to go when you are in the field especially on a ranch. A big part of the decision to stay with Blacker and Decker was the service center in Austin. Especially since the service center moved to San Antonio, Black and Decker needs to supply the spools to a convenient retailer like Home Depot. Additionally, I think the spools are over priced.

Upon receiving the unit via UPS and assembly was complete I experienced the battery not holding a charge. Even when charging the unit completely it would only run for less than a minute. Calling Black and Decker to troubleshoot the issue was poor. They directed me to Home Depot to resolve. After calling the local Home Depot I was told since I purchased it on line I would have to go through the on line service. Very frustrating experience.Fortunately I purchased a spare battery and charged it to complete charge and the unit performed well.Used the unit for approximately 30-35 minutes straight through using both speed levels then the battery was drained. The unit is well balanced and not really that heavy.

Superb construction of a very powerful tool.

This has a good feeling of quality to it. Sturdy, solid materials. Very powerful for a battery powered device. Only caveat is that it is new and has not been used over a period of time, but my impression is very good.

Has good power and works as described. Fairly easy to assemble. Have not changed the string yet so no knowledge of ease to change. Only objection is the battery. Was expecting the same battery used for the mower but it is a lower power battery so interchanging is not going to work well with the mower. Not clear why they developed a lower power battery as I don’t think the cost is relevant.

I’m a bit surprised by the initial reviews of how low and few they are for this trimmer. Well, I just received the trimmer and I must say that I am blown away by the performance of this product plus at almost 50% of the initial cost. I’ll share my reasons.I currently have a 20v black and decker trimmer/edger and it’s less than stellar. I hate the auto feeding especially for thick grass areas plus it’s rotational speed is weak. I’ve been trying to stay with it but it’s time for it to go so I was looking for a deal. Initially, I purchased the Ryobi 40v trimmer RY40240 and it has great reviews at over 300+. I have the battery lawnmower and leaf blower and I love it so I figured I would just expand my selection in the Ryobi family plus it was discounted by 40%.The very next day, I saw this discounted for 49% so I asked why not. Also, I do own a black and decker trimmer/edger so I take it that they do know something about trimmers/edgers. I already ordered the Ryobi so I figured I’d order this too and decide on which one to keep. After thoroughly reviewing both of these, I decided to go with the black and decker for the following reasons. 1. I needed a trimmer and edger 2. Ability to feed the line when desired. 3. Dual speed and line.Well, I received this, opened and assembled the product and decided to test it right away. The battery had a 1/3 charge left. While I agree that this is heavier than my current 20v trimmer/edger, 9 lbs is still lighter than a gas powered one. It also feels well balanced. Ergonomics has been taken into account when designing this with an arm rest towards the top and adjustable handle that can be locked to your desired position. I turned this thing on and I must admit that I was blown away by the power this thing has. At standard speed, it’s more powerful than the 20v counterpart and high speed is just awesome. You can also manually feed the line as needed. The trimmer is a plus for me with option to engage or disengage the guard as needed. The double line is a huge plus in terms of cutting performance and I’ll wait to see how often it needs to be charged and the reel changed. One thing that I noticed is that every time you stop and then start again, the line automatically feeds itself. I wish this was not the case as this will cause the line to be depleted even quickly. What’s the point of the manual feeder button then? A gimmick? I probably will trim/edge maybe 2-3 times a month so hopefully, I can go through a year without changing the reel. I also wish that the position to convert to/from trimmer/edger was up instead of way down but it’s not a deal breaker.Overall, the design and build looks solid. I’m just surprised that there are very few reviews (less than 20 as of 12/22/2017) on this thing. I also saw complaints about the battery life and I won’t know for sure until I use it. Even at 30 minutes at normal speed, it will be way more than what I need. Remember that the the angular velocity of a motor is proportional to the voltage across it so I’m surprised about a review of a 40v trimmer having more power than this.I also saw a comparison to a gas trimmer and I don’t know what type of grass this person has but if you can’t trim your grass with this bad boy, then you probably need a helicopter blade powered trimmer plus the headache of having fuel and oil smell all over you. For the price of less than $70, this is a steal and well worth it. Try it and with 90 days of return policy, what’s not to love? I’ll follow up over the summer on how this things works.

Like how it is light weight and still powerful to cut grass and weeds down fast. No hassle on starting it up.

Overall great but it was a bit heavy

I read the reviews and my expectations were too high. I was not that impressed by the style or the functionality of the tool. It seems clunky in my hands. The power seems to be sufficient and battery life if average. Those are good qualities, but when you buy a new tool you hope for more.
