Very simple to put together. This is actually the 2nd Black and Decker trimmer that I have purchased. The last one lasted me over 3 years (left it out in the rain on accident one too many times. User Error). This trimmer is very useful for basic trimming needs and personal yard grooming. This model seems a lot more sturdy and it is easier to rotate the head of the trimmer to get a nice crisp edge on the lawn. I usually cut about a 10,000 sq ft. yard and the battery last enough to get the job done as long as I haven’t allowed the brush to get too thick. The device itself is not too heavy and the wheel on it makes edging very easy. It has two power settings so if you have heavier weeds/grass it cuts with no problem on “2” setting. When I have an established edge on my yard “1” is sufficient and gets the job done. Satisfied overall with the trimmer and I haven’t used a gas trimmer in years since I tried this one out. Just pull the trigger, aim and trim away. I would recommend to anyone who has a medium sized to small yard (unless you have other batteries on hand) just not having to store mixed gas at home saves the headache.

This trimmer/edger is a medium-duty yard tool. The rpm’s are just not high enough for really tough jobs. I use this mainly for edging because of the “wheel” which MOST other tools lack. My corner yard with full-length sidewalks is a breeze to edge with this tool using the included 3Ah battery! Order this unit online with store pickup since Home Depot does not stock this model that has the hefty battery at the same price as the same model stocked with a smaller battery.I use a different trimmer for non-edging in order to extend the life of this B&D trimmer/edger.

I bought this to replace my ten or more year old Black and Decker Grasshog trimmer. The bump and feed feature on the old trimmer had failed for the third time and I wasn’t interested in repairing it again.The new trimmer has a feed button on the handle instead of the bump and feed. That feature is what sold me on this new trimmer.The new trimmer is also lighter weight and easier to use because of the weight difference.The battery on the new trimmer also seems to have more juice than the old trimmer. I can do my whole yard on one charge with the new trimmer. I always had to use two charged batteries with the old trimmer for the same yard.All in all, a definite upgrade for a reasonable price.

I think this is the third one of these I have bought over the years, so glad to have ditched the old gasoline one. This newest one is even better than the previous model, it has a wheel to help with the edging and it has a button to feed the line, the older model had an “automatic” line feed which wasn’t always there when you needed it, I prefer this way much more. These battery trimmer/edgers are the only way to go if you have a typical subdivision lot like I do, plenty of power to trim around the flower beds and fences and edge all the sidewalk and driveway.

I purchased mine in 2014 so this year was the 5th summer it was used on a weekly basis to trim a small yard and 25 feet of slope too steep for me to mow. It works as good now as it ever did (still using original two batteries it came with) except seems to go thru more string this year so maybe the automatic feed is wearing out. I’m going to buy a lighter model and keep this one as a spare.
