The design and power seem good, although the batteries have a very short running time. I bought a 4.0 battery to solve that issue. However, I read others have had the same issue. The easy feed has stopped working, so I have to manually open and pull out more line when the line gets short. It’s OK on grass since .65mm line is pretty strong and lasts, but on heavier weeds it’s not worth the trouble to stop and hand feed frequently. Seems like bad design of the line feeder.

I bought this tool to replace my very old Black and Decker string trimmer because the old 18v lithium batteries would no longer hold the charge. I was disappointed that I could not just replace the batteries. But the new one works great and hold the charge for a good 45 minutes. (40 min. longer than the old one!) It is easy to handle and does a great job edging my garden beds as well as weed wack an area where I can’t access with my lawn mower.

Doesn’t seem to have the power to cut through the weeds with thick stems even on the power setting. Not a huge deal to me though as I try to pull those up from the root anyway. Overall it’s decent for the price and having 2 batteries included is nice.

I have had three Black & Decker trimmers in the last thirty years and this one is the best. Light weight and the battery last for a lot longer than the previous ones. The price was reasonable considering it came with two batteries. Easy to assemble.

I have enjoyed this trimmer and was very happy with it until the auto feed stopped working. I changed spools watched the you tube videos and couldn’t figure out the issue. Finally after looking closer I saw that the end of the spring in the auto feed advancement mechanism had “jumped” out of place. Moving it back in place and back in business. If you are having problems with the autofeed please check this as it is a 1 second fix. This thing does what I need it to. Will do all my trimming on 1/2 acre on one battery. I do have several batteries that I keep in rotation.

This is the second B&D trimmer of the exact same model…best trimmer I have ever owned. Actually, my 1st one is still working just great after about 5 or so years…love it!! We are having to trim more and more here at my house so the 2 batteries do not last long enough to finish our big job, so we purchased another to have more batteries charged and now we can rotate them through and we can both trim at the same time getting out work done in record time. We watch our neighbor drag a cord all over his lot trying to get it trimmed…we are totally done with that!!

On 10/29/20 I posted a negative review of this trimmer. I am retracting that review and giving the unit five stars. I complained that the unit was a replacement for the almost new same model that quit on me a couple weeks ago. I wrote that the replacement quit as well. They would run momentarily, then die. I went back and started retracing my steps, thinking that it was odd that two new trimmers would have the same issues. It was not the trimmer. I have several B&D tools that work on the same batteries and thus, I have a bank of batteries and chargers. After testing the new trimmer with different batteries today, it appears that, coincidentally, it was THREE bad batteries in the rotation. What are the odds? They do wear out. Again, I am posting to retract my negative review. I will now be contacting B&D to eat some crow, as it appears this may have been the issue with the trimmer I sent back to them as well.
