When I received this, I was really surprised, because I was expecting one that looked like my mother’s. But this is a modern pressure-cooker, with all the bells and whistles, including pre-set options. It can also be used as a slow cooker.We were very nervous, not about this machine, but about pressure-cookers in general—I guess we felt that they were dangerous. But there was no reason for that, it was obviously safe. It’s not a negative really, but I had to break down and read the manual, because I didn’t understand what all the pre-sets were for. But they make it super easy! We made simple baked potatoes in it the first time, and they came out great—cooked in about 8 minutes and then the depressurization. Amazing! Now we can make good dinners even on weekdays.

I love this pressure cooker! I haven’t used my slow cooker at all since I’ve had it. I’ve made pulled pork, stews, shredded chicken etc. and it has all turned out so delicious. Simple to use and the buttons make it easy to figure out what setting to use. This makes cooking meals so easy and fast. It’s safe and I’ve had no problems with it whatsoever. Very easy to clean too.

This is sure different than the terrifying pressure cooker my grandmother used to use. I’ve used it to cook most of my family’s meals for the past few weeks and had almost all successes. The rice cooker function made perfect rice, the slow cooker function made perfect stew, and it was almost a religious experience when my bag of dry beans cooked up into perfect chili beans in 45 minutes (no soaking!). I had some difficulty cooking a whole chicken at once– the pot didn’t seem to pressurize fully and it took longer than the recipe said to cook all the way. That may have been user error– I wonder if I didn’t get the lid closed firmly enough to pressurize. (Because safety features: this isn’t like the terrifying pressure cooker my grandmother used to use.) But everything else I pressure cooked worked beautifully. I especially like that you can use the browning function to saute meat or vegetables before dumping the other ingredients in– anything to save a pan. My kids especially liked the brown sugar garlic chicken from the recipe book. I’ve already given my old slow cooker to a friend, and I’m only keeping my old rice cooker so that I can make rice at the same time I’m using this pressure cooker for the main course. Totally recommend.

I have never used a pressure cooker before, and after using it I was surprised how fast this appliance can cook. It saves so much of my time! This is my first pressure cooker so I am still in the learning phase. I have enjoyed using it to cook pots of beans and a brisket. I have also used it several times in the slow cooker mode for stews and soups. In both the pressure cooker and slow cooker modes I have had to add to the cooking times suggested in the recipes provided by about 10%. In the future, I will simply factor in the additional cooking time from the start.

There was a lot of buzz about these pressure cookers by so many different brands. I was excited when I received my Black and Decker pressure cooker. Wow! This is more than just a pressure cooker! It can do so many different things that its like having multiple appliances all in one. There are functions for cooking white rice, brown rice, beans, meat, soup/stew, steaming, browning, and high/low slow cooker settings. The first dish I made with it was neckbones. I used the browning feature and it really browns the meat well. There are preset times but you can adjust them to your needs. Once I added the rest of my ingredients to the pot and sealed it, I set it to the meat function and adjusted the time. I was worried that my meat wouldn’t turn out as tender and juicy as it would have in a slow cooker for a few hours since it only took 30 minutes in the pressure cooker. I was so wrong! Once my time was up and the pot depressurized, the meat was so juicy and flavorful! This has opened so many possibilities for me. I can cook my favorite slow cooker meals in a fraction of the time. This will be great on days that I’m late deciding what to fix for dinner and I need to throw something together. The 6 quart pot holds a lot of food. I am loving this pressure cooker and am excited to try some of the recipes from the book that came with it.

I bought a 7-1 cooker about 2 weeks ago. I have used it several time and love it. I have cook with stove top cookers for many years. this is a great produce. now for my problem. the manual does not have enough information.. a lot of it I had to figure out by trial and error. I am still have not figured out how to set the timer . Right is appears to set it’s self. I do not know what PSI it reaches. I would like to a little canning of veggies, fruit and some meat. Please advise on the above comments. I did fix a great roast beef this last weekend. the left over beef and raw veggies turned in to a great soup in minutes.

I have used this amazing pressure cooker so many times and what can I say but it is amazing. Using it cut my cooking time to half , the food taste much better and the meat is really tender. i love how it is easy to clean and easy to use. it replaces many other appliances like slow cooker and it also has a browning feature which is amazing. I had never used a pressure cooker prior to receiving this and I am so impressed! I have never had meat turn out so tender and even more amazing is how quickly it cooks! I see myself using this very regularly for dinner. It is a bit hard to clean if you spill around the edge of the pot because it’s recessed there for the lid to fit on, but that is a very small downside for such wonderful results!

I’m so happy I chose this product to review! How amazing is this thing. It’s so easy to use. It cooks the food so quick and it takes so delicious! I cooked a 5 pound Chicken in 25 minutes. It was so juicy and just falling apart. I couldn’t believe how easy it was, how quick it was and just how wonderful this product is! I would totally recommend this product. My mom wants to use it to cook some of the things she cans. She is going to try it out also! I will cook in this more then I use anything else in my kitchen! I love love love it!
