Finally got tired of watching that it didn’t boil over before I could turn the heat down; then remember to check it after 20 minutes to make sure it was cooked and ready to eat. Took awhile but I finally wised up and decided to buy a rice cooker. Glad I found B&D 3-cup cooker. Worked perfectly the first time (noticed the burn smell the first time as warned on reviews). Followed directions for amount of raw rice and water. All I had to do was listen for the ‘click’ when cooking was over. Rice came out perfectly. Can’t believe I waited so long to buy a rice cooker. Size is just right for small family. Takes up very little space on counter.

I love that cooking rice only takes 20-30 minutes, and then it has an automatic warm function that automatically kicks on to keep the rice warm and fluffy. It’s so easy and fast to cleanup it is dishwasher-safe, but with the nonstick pot and tempered glass lid it only takes a few minutes to clean.

I received this product about a month or so ago, and I have to admit, I didn’t fully read the description and thought it was much bigger than it was. But, it does say 3 cup, and that is what it is. It is a smaller one, so if you have a large family, I would opt for the bigger one. With that being said, I had to wait for the opportune time to use it. We have a “find it, fix it” night which is free range of anything you want (within reason) for dinner, and I used that opportunity to test this rice cooker out. I threw my rice and water in, set it, and enjoyed the fast and effortless cooking of my rice. I heated up chicken, and as soon as it was done, so was my rice, cooked to perfection! It was fast, simple, and made the PERFECT rice! This is such a great product!

I love this appliance! Perfect rice each time. I even cooked a box of Goya yellow rice and beans along with Salmon steaks and plantains (my cooker came with a steamer tray). To avoid the rice browning on the bottom I add a teaspoon of Olive oil to the water. Steaming ripe plantains is great and the juices from the steamer tray falling in and mixing with the rice tastes so good.

Wow so impressed with this rice cooker, its attractive and easy to use, my son was excited to try it out, he had just seen a video of making rice cooker pancakes lol… so while I was at work he made a batch, sorry he didn’t take pictures, but he said it made thick moist and delicious rice cooker pancakes.. popped right out without sticking .. and clean up was a breeze just wiped out with a damp cloth.. Next we will actually cook some rice

When I first took the Black + Decker rice cooker out of the box, my initial reaction was “what a cute, little rice cooker.” Maybe it’s a tad bit too small? I was making brown rice and followed the directions from the manual using 1 cup brown rice measure and 1.5 cups of water – the maximum amount allowed. I pressed the lever down to start cooking the rice, easy peasy. During the cooking process, water started to spurt out of the steam venting hole on the lid. Water was getting on the cooking base, on the counter and threatened to spill out of the cooking bowl (thankfully it didn’t boil over). The rice came out perfectly though. It was fluffy and the right amount of stickiness. Cleanup was easy as everything fit nicely into the top of the dishwasher. A quick wipe down of the outer machine was all that was needed from the spurting water. On my second try with the machine, I used a little less water with the brown rice. Instead of filling to the 1.5 line, I did roughly 1.25. Water still spurted out of the steam vent, albeit not as much as the first time. The rice cooked pretty much the same as my initial use. Maybe it’ll be a little trial and error to get the perfect amount of water to cook with the rice. But if water continues to spurt out of the steam vent, at least the clean up is not that difficult. All in all, it’s a decent cooker.

the first time I used, it boiled over on to the counter. that was half of a cup. Second time I used it, had a full cup, still it boiled over. third time I noticed that it boils too much and that’s what think is wrong with it. I would not recommend it
