No matter how accurate your cuts are, ugly tear-out can still happen. End tear-out for good with the NGX Saw Plate and Non-Chip Strip, specifically designed as part of the BORA NGX Clamp Edge System. With its easy-to-use, intuitive design, you can apply the strip and mount your saw to rip or crosscut a board in no time. An especially helpful feature of the saw plate is the all-new non-chip strip, which saves your boards from tear-out. Simply press this self-adhesive strip onto the clamp edge and cut—the excess width of the strip will come off so the edge of the non-chip strip sits flat against your blade and is parallel to your clamp edge.
- Fixed center molded channel reduces blade offset and guesswork
- Self-adhesive non-chip strip attaches to the bottom of your NGX clamp edge and reduces top edge tear-out for a smooth finish
- Quick-release clamps are adjustable so your saw goes on and off the plate effortlessly
- Aluminum guide rails position your saw accurately every time
- 3 points of contact hold the saw securely while cutting
- Fits right- or left-handed saws
- Part of the NGX Clamp Edge System to cut and rip sheets and boards

The clamp is excellent and I expect to use it often. My only complaint is that the adhesive on the tape strip is not strong and the strip tends to peel off completely.

BORA 5-Piece Clamp Edge Saw Guide. Well built and nice features. When the extension is added, it can handle an eight foot piece of plywood. I dropped this product down a point because the instructions could use a lot more detail. Especially on installing the non-chip strips. Took me a while and a phone call to figure it out. First, straighten the strips out as much as possible. Second, the blue covering needs to be removed from the double sided tape. If your not careful, you’ll remove the tape along with the blue covering. One strip on each guide. Make sure the strip is on the same side of each guide. The side of the strip that has the tape goes on one side of the bottom of the guides (lower step on bottom). When the strip is installed, the tape side of the strip should be level with the upper step of the guide. The other edge of the strip should overhang the edge of the guide. The saw should be used on the side of the guide with the strip attached (overhang). Mounting the saw to the saw plate was easier and is adjustable in all directions. I stored my saw with the plate attached. The adjustible clamp holds the board tightly and gives you a ridgit, straight guide to cut on. Can be used with or without the sawplate. Using the saw plate is easier.

Making precise cuts on sheet goods has always been a problem. As a hobbyist who makes a lot of furniture and cabinetry, I usually do precision cuts on the table saw. But making precision cuts on sheet goods has always been a problem. In the past I would calculate the offset and clamp a board to the plywood and hope that the board was straight and square. My norm was to cut oversize and then do the precision on the table saw, but that was not always possible. A track saw would do a much better job, but I could not justify the expense. When I got the BORA 50” NGX Clamp Edge I found I no longer had to rely on the accuracy of whatever board I happened to find. This clamp adjusts quickly and is automatically square with the surface. It holds tightly and cures most of the difficulty I had. By adding the NGX Pro Saw Plate, it allows me to use my circular saw like a track saw. Now I can rip through sheet goods precisely without calculating the offset and with the non-chip strip attached to the clamp, tear out is greatly reduced. The circular saw attaches quickly and securely to the Saw Plate with 3 locking hold downs. Once I found the proper Allen wrench, setup was easy and I was ready to saw. (Hint – it is 3mm.) Very happy with this combination and it will definitely save me a lot of time and material.

This is one of those tools I never knew I needed until I tried it. I’ve always used a couple of clamps and something with a “straight” edge to try to get a straight line. That involved finding something straight and of course running from side to side of the sheet to adjust the clamp. This tool takes all that extra effort away. Set it where you need it and quickly clamp it at one end, then cut. Done. It’s very light, very easy to maneuver, and the adjustable clamp slides easily in the track.Pair the clamp with Bora Saw Plate accessory (https://www.homedepot.com/p/BORA-NGX-55-in-Saw-Plate-with-Non-Chip-Strip-544001/311799074), and move your saw effortlessly along the track. These clamps and accessories basically turn your circular saw into a unisaw!

Good quality product for the price. Maybe not as nice as a good track saw, but for the few projects I do each year it works fine. Allows straight cutting of 4×8 sheets in both directions. It works best with saws that have a flat metal base on top. My Porter Cable saw has ridges on top of the base which creates some problems. I ended up purchasing a Dewalt saw as the base is flat on top. I’d recommend getting a separate 4′ section for cross cutting sheets of plywood (4′ direction) to avoid having to keep taking the guide apart. Also the saw sits fairly high off of the wood so the cutting depth is reduced quite a bit. A 6 1/2″ blade would be marginal.

The Bora NGX Clamp Edge Saw Guide is a good way to get a straight line cut on sheets of plywood or even other sheet products. The basic construction of this tool is of an aluminum extrusion and a plastic clamping system that quickly adjusts to any length of material up to about 50 inches. The actual clamp is easy to use with a large clamping handle. This saw guide is lightweight and once clamped to sheet of material doesn’t stand high enough to interfere with those saws where the motor hangs out beyond the base plate of the saw. This means you can cut with either side of saw. I prefer to hang the motor side of the saw onto the larger (clamped side) of the material but you must decide which way the saw is going to go because the measurement from the edge of the saw’s base plate is different on each side. This brings up another concern in that the line to be cut has to be marked and the saw guide has to be off-set by that amount. My easy fix for that is to cut one or two small blocks of wood, measuring exactly the amount from the edge of the saw’s base plate to the blade, then use them to mark the location where your saw guide will be placed and secured. So that brings us to a point where you want to ask why not just snap a chalk line mark and follow it. I have to say that this clamp edge saw guide will provide a straighter cut than following a chalk line but it will take a lot more time and the results may not be worth it for many users. I want to also mention that Bora NGX has an accessory saw plate (Part #544001) that allows attachment of most circular saws and slides over the top of this saw guide that will give results similar to a track saw. I have included a photo of that product below. Overall I think that this is a good product that will provide excellent results when used properly but it requires much more time than using the good old chalk line.

The Bora NGX is a great product for ensuring straight cuts! I use it by itself most of the time but it also has accessories that can be used with saws, routers, and jig saws.

This Bora 50-inch Clamp Edge Saw Guide is a welcome addition to my woodworking tools. I bought a similar small clamp edge type guide many years ago at a woodworking show in Phoenix, but this Bora clamp edge is far superior to that one. First of all, the Bora NGX is 50 inches long, so it can clamp all the way across a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood. (My old clamp edge guide is only 26 inches long, so it has limited use as a saw guide.) The Bora clamp edge aluminum rail is slightly more than 1/2 inch thick, so it is very sturdy. The main rail of the Bora NGX clamp edge is made of extruded aluminum and the clamping mechanism and end stop are made of some kind of sturdy molded thermo-plastic. When released the clamping end slides easily in the double track slots of the aluminum rail. When you get it in position against the edge of your plywood, a simple flick of the T-handle locks the clamp edge in place ready to guide your saw. Bora sells a separate NGX saw plate that can ride on top of the clamp edge rail or you can just allow for your saw’s blade offset and let the saw’s edge be guided by the clamp edge rail.My only complaint (which is a pet peave of mine) is that Bora slapped a UPC sticker on the clamp edge rail where it meets the cardboard packaging (see photo) that was very hard to remove. It took me 15 minutes of soaking the UPC label remnants with WD40 and scrubbing with paper towels to remove the label adhesive without damaging the aluminum rail’s finish. Sterlite, who makes plastic storage boxes, manages to make labels that stick to the product but are very easy to remove without leaving adhesive residue, so why can’t other manufacturer’s follow their lead?

My son wanted this for a project he had, I thought he didn’t need it. I was surprised how handy it was and easy to use. I wouldn’t think of cutting a board without it now.

It is just what I wanted. It grips firmly and doesn’t shift when cutting my plywood

Thought I was getting Justin and guide clampdown style for for power saw ended up getting a bonus edge guide which my circular saw fits into which I thought was rather nice used it a couple times so far seems to work rather well there’s a chip strip that goes with the text chance to stop the wood from chipping back if you’re doing doors so you don’t chip the edges makes it look clean would recommend this for anybody replacing or buying a new Edgcote clampdown style

BORA NGX 5-Piece Clamp Edge Deluxe Set – Almost everyone who has used a tracksaw appreciates its accuracy and clean cutting results, but their price tags are high and maybe prohibitive for the occasional user and Do-It-Yourself-er. This Bora set is a good option to avoid paying $500 and more for a good tracksaw. It does require a decent circular saw and a good blade that isn’t included, but most woodworkers already have one. Once the saw is mounted on the sled and the track clamped to the material it is easy to get straight clean cross-cuts and rips. I tested it by cross-cutting a piece of ½” plywood. The results were a smooth straight cut with almost no splintering. The track comes in two sections that can be combined to cut 8’ long boards and full-length plywood. I did wipe some silicone on the track to make the sled slide smoother but other than that it works great. The one issue I have is with the assembly instructions. They are all illustrations of steps to install and set up your saw and assemble the track etc. The problem is there isn’t any text to explain what you are doing or how to do it. Just pictures. Going through the process was some trial and error. For instance, it shows mounting the saw to the sled, but doesn’t tell you that the sled needs to be on the track for blade clearance. I included a photo that illustrates adjustments for the saw that I assume is for blade clearance. I found it hard to see why the two lines on the left are wrong and the lines on the right are correct.

BORA NGX Clamp Edge Saw Guide is a quality guide for circular saws, routers and even jig saws. It is made of heavy duty aluminum with an excellent clamping method that secures the guide rail above on top of the sheet goods with an edge clamp. The handle to tighten the guide is easy to use by one person and doesn’t budge at all when used with the saw. A secure fit is critical in preventing the saw from wandering off the cut. It doesn’t happen often, but it can ruin the cut and I’ve done it. I had a shorter Rockwell guide and it wasn’t nearly as well done as this one. There is an optional second section that can be joined to this 50-inch rail extending it to handle rip cut for sheet length goods, too.An advantage of this system is the excellent options that can be had, sold separately, to make it even better to use. I used my rail with their universal circular saw plate that mounts the circular saw using hold down clamps. The plate can then be slipped into the slots on the top of the aluminum rail securing it. It then works more closer to a track saw. Included with the plate is a length of 3M non-chip strip to attach to the bottom of the plate along the saw blade, reduces any top edge tear-out for a cleaner cut. This is useful for bonded veneers. Bora has similar plates for routers and a jig saws that slip into the slots on the top of the rail. Finally, I was at initially concerned about the plate being plastic. It is thick plastic and feels substantial for DIY work, all well done. I tried the rail and saw plate out with my Milwaukee cordless circular saw and it fit nicely after about five minutes of making set-up adjustments. You have to slide over the hold down rail that has two clamps and make it exactly parallel to the saw blade and lined up on the plate’s blade guide. It is all easily done with allen screws and a flat slotted screwdriver. Really not a big deal, but the saw has to be accurately lined up to get a straight cut. I didn’t use their non-chip tape and didn’t need it for the MDF used. Overall, this is an excellent tool for crosscutting sheet goods. The rail alone is first rate and with the circular saw plate it goes quicker and is more accurate. I also own a small work-site table saw and when working alone prefer this method to cut sheet goods on two saw horses. It just is safer with my experience level and equipment setup. I feel the Bora system however you’ve configured it is a good value for DIY-ers to other methods.

This is a must have for small shops. It’s a great straight edge. Now, I have had it slip on me a couple of times. I now clamp both ends as an added safety measure.
