This a perfectly fine rip guide especially if you are in the Bora line of guides. Some of the pieces are well made and machined while other pieces seem to be made of less durable plastic. The aluminum measure guide is accurate and appears durable. The saw guide plate is probably the biggest detractor to this whole setup. The saw guide is not as well designed as some other competitors’ guides I have seen and some of the plastic does not seem to be that durable. I was not a fan of this guide plate and felt it could have been designed a little better and offered more support to your saw’s base plate.Overall I would say if you are using Bora products I would recommend getting this rip guide. However if you are researching and are not in this line then maybe do some test runs with multiple rip guides before settling on this one.

This rip cut saw plate and guide is a great tool for safe, accurate rip cuts on larger pieces and sheets of wood. The set is comprised of a guide handle, metal ruler for measuring the cuts, and then a saw plate or sled to affix a circular saw to make cuts. This guide can make cuts up to 24″, but no larger. That’s somewhat disappointing, but Bora makes a larger guide ruler if you need larger cuts. The saw plate is difficult to attach to the circular saw. The instructions included were limited, and confusing at best, but after a few videos I figured it out. The guide and plate can be used on left or right oriented circular saws, which makes it versatile. It attached fine to the Rigid saw I have. Overall, I think a decent tool, but disappointed in the lack of clear instructions.

I had been wanting to get a set-up to help rip plywood and wanted to try this Bora set. The included instructions with the set has a lot to be desired and took me awhile to figure out how to set my both my 6 1/2″ cordless circular saw and the 7 1/4″ corded circular saw. The plastic feels a bit flimsy and though the slide track is nicely finished aluminum. The kit uses a couple of pins that screw down on the front plate of the saw and a spring loaded clip along the rear. On my 6 1/2″ saw the spring loaded clip would not work as the motor housing was in the way so only the two pins held the saw in place. On the 7 1/4″ I was able to use the rear spring clip which offered a bit more support. I did not see anywhere in the instructions about aligning the set to rip perfectly square cuts and discovered mine were off by a considerable margin. Overall I feel this rip handle set needs further refinement or better included instructions that give details on it’s set-up and useage.

This rip set is easy to assemble and use and it does a great job. Cuts are straight and smooth and the guide measurements are accurate. The saw guide and the handle feel solid and inspire confidence in just a few cuts. The instructions, such as they are, are part of the packaging and easy to miss. Also, a few explanatory words to accompany the graphics would help. There is no explanation of tool requirements and I found that a flat blade screwdriver and a small three millimetre hex key did the fastening and unfastening jobs. There is a spring loaded metal piece which should be used to provide additional stability for the circular saw and plate fitting but the bottom of the screw would not sit inside the saw plate and interfered with the cut so I left it out and it did not appear to have a detrimental effect.

The Bora Saw Plate and Rip Handle set sure makes for very accurate cuts. Ripped (6) 8’ x 25” x 1.5” butcher blocks and was quite satisfied with the results. Performed several cross cuts with the same satisfying results. Now, in my shop I run multiple saws which each have a specific duty. Therefore, when switching this Bora tool from one saw to the next, I personally felt it slowing me down a lot. If time and efficiency are not important or perhaps you might utilize one saw for all of your cuts, than this makes a great rip guide.

This Bora saw plate and rip handle set will get the job done, after assembly, that is. This took me longer than expected to put together and most of the pieces are plastic, requiring a few different tools, but once set up, it attached to the saw easily. Like others have reviewed, I do wish more of this product was not plastic, although the benefit of the plastic is that it makes it lightweight and easy to use when attaching to a saw. In a pinch, this is a great option when a table saw isn’t available and the accuracy is surprisingly good. Overall, I still find the product to be a good value.

Ever wonder if there is a way to rip a board without a table saw? Well the BORA SAW PLATE AND RIP HANDLE SET would appear to be a solution; however, I think I’ll continue to make my rip cuts by hand and sight. Although this tool seems to work, it’s more effort than I’d like to put in. Not to mention of I want to use my circular saw for another application other than rips, I have to now disassemble the saw plate. Made from high density plastic and aluminum, it has a lot of useful features. You can setup for either left or right cuts. Claims you can make a rip cut up to 24 inches but I think it’d actually be a little less than that. The instructions is more like a lack of instructions. There are images printed about 1 inch tall on how to assemble. Needed a magnifying glass to see the details. Overall it will do as intended but I believe there is to much setup for it to really be useful for myself.

This is a nice compact little thing. I will be honest that I had trouble with the setup and looked online for directions. They were very unclear but with a few videos and the tiny little instruction sheet included you can get the idea and once its all setup, subsequent setups with the same saw should be a snap. Its lightweight and convenient for those times where you dont have a table saw and you want to rip the long edge on a sheet of plywood. All in all I would recommend but I would hope that they would improve on their instructions and possibly make a video or at least make the instructions in color so its easier to put the thing together.

The Bora Saw Plate and Rip Handle Set can be a little challenging to assemble. Instructions that accompany the product are limited and consist of a series of drawings that do not fully explain how to assemble the product. I mounted two different saws on the device, a 7 1/4 inch Classic Skill Saw and a 4 inch battery operated Dewalt saw. Both felt pretty secure, but it was difficult to tell how the blade lined up with where the cut was supposed to be. However, once I eye-balled it, it seemed pretty accurate, as shown in the accompanying photographs. The product description says saws can be mounted without tools, but I had to use a flat head screwdriver to secure the front of the saw to the device. Good concept, seemed to work pretty well, but can be challenging to assemble.

Bora Saw Plate and Rip Handle Set is a smaller jig compared to their larger rip guide set. This set has a twenty-four inch ruler guide made of aluminum and instead of an edge clamp they’ve included a rip handle. The rip handle runs along the edge of the wood panel being cut, held and moved along with one hand, fixed to the aluminum ruler guide. Attached to the other end of the ruler guide is a circular saw sled that moves with the guide clamped to a circular saw cutting the panel. Everything is fixed in place with this jig. The sheet-goods guide cuts parallel from the panel’s edge reference. It is simple and effective. This set will make rip cuts up to twenty-four inches from an edge. Other longer aluminum guides are available by Bora that cut four feet and with an extension rip up to eight feet long. These are the WTX and newer NGX clamp edge systems mentioned on the web page. I own an NGX system for over a year and it works well. This set is designed for twenty-four inch or smaller cuts along the panel’s edges. It is somewhat limiting, obviously, on large 4 x 8 panels. You can always add Bora’s longer guide, if needed. The heart of the system is the saw sled that fixes the circular saw on the aluminum rule guide. It locks in a groove on the guide giving a secure cut line as the rip handle is moved along the sheet-goods. The saw plate is heavy duty honey-web plastic construction underneath, solidly done and clamps onto the circular saw in three places, two on the front and one on the side. They’ve added another saw edge stop with two allen screws on the other side. I tried the sled with my Milwaukee cordless circular saw and a corded Skillsaw, they fit well. I also own a work-site table saw. When working prefer this method to cut large sheet-goods panels. It is safer handling 4 x8 panels, quicker, with little chance of a dangerous misstep. The Bora system however you’ve configured it is a good choice.

Is it great? No, but pretty darn close. 1 thing I liked most was also my biggest concern: made mainly of plastic. Plastic makes it lightweight so no real added weight; but I worry about how long it will hold up. It cuts accurately. The instructions (picture only) are horrible, & this is from a guy who rarely uses them. This will fit standard circular saw sleds only. I have a corded standard Ryobi (20yrs old) and a cordless standard Ridgid; it fits both. It will NOT fit my worm drive (Ridgid) sled. 1 dislike is the initial set up per saw requires 2 tools, flat screwdriver & hex key; wish they used like fasteners so 1 tool did it all. Once attached to sled you can adjust for differing cuts with just the screwdriver. It claims to rip a piece as small as 1/8”. However, the aluminum ruler guide isn’t secured by both sides of the plastic (see picture) & could occasionally cause a bobble. Once you have guide secured by both sides (see picture), accurate every time. I found ripping at 1 ½” or greater held a true line, every time. As a rule, I will use my table saw; but it is a great option when your table saw isn’t accessible & you need to make accurate rip cuts and have difficulty doing it freehand. I would highly recommend to persons who have hard time ripping straight with a circular saw.

This guide really helped me out on some long rip cuts. Every saw is different and I had to adjust mine the best I could. I ended up using a 6 1/2 inch blade saw because it’s lightweight. It’s really easy to use because there is only really one way to put in your saw. All the knobs and tightening screws hold very well and don’t loosen with the vibrations of cutting. It can cut a pretty wide rip cut because the guide is pretty large. Surprisingly the measurements on there were decently accurate when I was making cuts. At first I had my doubts of the guide on the side because it’s long and I thought it would get in my way. But it actually worked out great for beginning cuts and ending them. The only thing I didn’t like was a lot of plastic on this guide. It does flex but doesn’t affect the cutting itself. I definitely suggest using a lighter weight saw because a worm drive might be too heavy and awkward. The knobs are very sturdy once tightened down and that’s very important to me. It all around definitely works great but I definitely can’t just toss it in the tool box because I feel it could break. But for my shop use it’s right on the money.
