This is the Bora 12 inch parallel clamp. It comes in a package of 2 and has a 3 1/2” deep throat. You can configure the jaws so the clamps become spreaders—cool feature. The only documentation that accompanies the clamps is a tag (see Photo 1).When you first examine the clamps, you’ll immediately notice that the jaws are NOT parallel. This is not a defect (I also have a pair of 24” clamps and they exhibit the same behavior). I contacted Bora to see what they’d say about this, and they pointed out that what’s critical is what happens under load. They sent me a set of photos showing the out-of-parallel condition of the jaws when not under pressure, and the changes they undergo when under load. They match what I discovered (all enclosed photos are mine, not theirs). Photo 2 shows the fixed jaw obviously not perpendicular to the beam. The movable jaw was almost perfectly perpendicular. Photo 3 shows the jaws under normal clamping pressure. Note how the jaws become parallel and apply even pressure to the glue-up. I performed several actual glue-ups and they all turned out fine.These clamps have a real nice feel to them—if anything, they’re on the heavy side, but I think that’s a good thing. They felt like they had more than enough clamping pressure. They also have a couple of nice features, such as a tail stand (see Photo 4) that helps keep the clamp steady on your work bench. Not so obvious, is a V-groove in the jaw when you remove the plastic cover (see Photo 5) for grabbing pointed or round objects.These clamps are true 12” clamps; they have an overall length of 20 1/4 inches. They will actually hold something a little wider than 12 inches. Overall, I’d say they are great clamps.

These are some very impressive clamps. They are very heavily made and very sturdy. The workmanship and finish seems very good on all the parts.Since they are my first set of parallel clamps, I had to get used to the movement to adjust the clamp spacing. It works well once you get used to the motion, but hung up my first few attempts to adjust the clamp.I have already used these to build some cubbies and tool holders in my work van and they are very nice to work with.

The BORA 12 inch Parallel Clamps are really cool. I really like the increased clamping depth and the rigidity of the clamp compared to my other clamps. For coarse adjustment of the clamp you lift the screw handle and slide the bottom jaw against the surface to be clamped. Once the coarse adjustment is made the screw handle is turned clockwise to the desired tightness. The width of the top and bottom jaw gives the clamp a tremendous stability and grip. The clamp can provide up to 1100 lbs. of clamping force and the jaw depth is 3 ½ inches. The jaws are padded to protect the work surface. The clamp is available in increments of 12, 24, 31, 40 and 50 inch lengths. This is the best clamp I’ve ever owned. I would definitely recommend the BORA clamp to beginners and Pro’s alike.

These are very serious and sturdy clamps. The clamps adjust very easily and smoothly and tighten smoothly and clamp well. The large jaws made it easy to position the clamps without the jaws moving off the workpieces while tightening. For people who have used pipe clamps such as me these clamps with the smooth operation and large jaws are a dream. A nice feature is an adjustable stop the keep the moving end from being accidentally slid off the rail. The rail is very stiff and sturdy, as it should be, and I have not seen and indication of it flexing.

These 12 in. Parallel Clamps by Bora are some really nice clamps. You can get up to 1100 lbs of clamping pressure. These will be getting a lot of use in my woodworking projects, especially when during my panel glue-ups. They have padded jaws to help protect from marring the wood edges. With the easy and comfortable grips it is a snap to get the exact amount of clamping pressure you want. These are sold as 12 inch clamps, however, you can get about 13 1/2 inches of total spread. You can also change these from clamps to spreaders in just a few seconds by sliding one jaw off flip it 180 degrees and reinstall it. These clamps are heavy but that’s not necessary a bad thing. To me that says they are built out of strong materials for a long life of service. The top of the bar has groves so if your doing glue-ups with them remember to put some wax paper over the bar to prevent having to get dried glue out of them. The only thing I found was sometimes it was hard to spread the jaws out. I’m hoping over a little time that will improve and that was the reasons four only stars. However, that will not stop me from buying more Bora clamps.

BORA12 in. Parallel Clamp (Set of 2) You can never have enough clamps in the shop, especially if you do woodworking projects. These Bora’s have a nice rubber grip so I can rack the clamps good and tight. The faces are plastic to protect what you are clamping and to also make it easy to remove excess dried glue. By flipping the jaw you can make it a “spreading tool” instead of a “clamping tool”. I found my 12” Bora clamps to be a good hefty weight (a positive thing for this style clamp) they are very strong and I have noticed there is no twisting during use. The jaw faces will become parallel under heavy clamping pressure, but not before so if you are clamping under light pressure these won’t be parallel and I’d like to see the sliding action smoother, but probably will break in after using them for a while.
