Am using this base on a band saw that weighs about 300 lbs and it does everything I need it to do. It is sturdy and reliable. The wheels roll easily and true across a shop floor that is not always clean. The lift foot-levers are rugged, easy to engage/disengage, and easily lift the saw’s weight when needed. I would have given it 5 stars but one of the stationary foot brackets was not drilled/tapped perpendicular to the base, causing the foot to be canted about 8 degrees outward. It is still functional because the padded foot makes up for the angle of the threaded rod and I was still able to level the base, but this is a quality control issue that should have been caught at the factory. If you happen to be using this base for a Rikon 10-326 band saw (as I am) you’ll find that the storage cabinet door will contact some part of the base and not fully open no matter how you orient the base. This is a problem with the saw’s design, not the Portamate base. The same problem exists with the mobility kit that Rikon sells for their own saw. I was hoping to avoid the issue with the Portamate but wound up having to bolt a double layer of 3/4 inch hardwood plywood to the base and have it extend out an inch from each dimension of the saw’s base in order for the door to swing unobstructed. Hopefully you can see what I mean in the pictures. I also decided to put the lift levers on the left side of the saw, away from my feet, and am glad I did. As it is now, it works great, doesn’t get in my way, and would probably hold your average elephant.

Easy to assemble. My table saw is a breeze to move around my garage now!

Great product. It’s heavy duty enough for my heavy cast iron table saw. Much better than my old home made plywood base with casters. I like that it only raised the saw about 1 inch.

this tool base is easy to assemble, can be adjusted to fit every tool in my shop, ity’s very heavy duty, easy to use and much less expensive than similar products i’ve seen in tool catalogs.i’m going to put one of these on all my machines.

This heavy duty mobile base was made very well and supported my heavy table saw. I will be purchasing another one for a heavy duty router/ shaper I have.

Used for my old, heavy Craftsman Flex-Drive table saw, handles the weigh fine, makes moving easy. The low profile it much safer when using my sled or miter gauge. The home-made platform & casters increased the table height to where I had to lean over the fence too far in order to see my cuts – This is much better!

I have several Portamate bases in my shop, some of lighter duty than the burly 2500, and they make my 200-sq-ft woodshop a lot more efficient. I used the 2500 for my new shop-built router table, which is about 21″x35″. Although the instructions are very basic (only a parts list and vague step-by-step directions), if you begin by getting to know each part it will go faster. For each side of the base that is long enough to require more than one rail, you need to pair the two different sized rails. I used lock-tite on all the hardware to keep everything solid. This is clearly a stronger and more solid model than other mobile bases, including the lighter-duty Portamates. The levers really shine – they’re big enough to easily flip up or down with your foot. Since my 2500 has a plywood router table sitting on it, it is subject to a lot of vibration, and so far it is rock-solid. This is a great thing to have for tools that you only need to bring out occasionally, or as in my case, a router table that sometime needs to move over to the tablesaw to do double-duty as an outfeed table.

This is a really well designed product. After assembling the wheels the frame can be sized to fit most equipment in your shop. I added this to my router cabinet, I got it to fit within 1/4″ and it makes for a good snug fit that fully supports the cabinet. The wheels roll smoothly. When the locking flaps are up, the base is pretty secure, with only minor movement in the wheels. I really like it and can’t believe I used to drag this cabinet across the floor to use my router.

For those with a garage shop, mobile tools are a must. OK, they aren’t if you are single, but with a wife they are a must. This is an easy and decent functionality method of making a large based tool mobile. It works much better on tools with a more square base.I tried this style base on a jointer/planter with very wide and narrow base. The tipping action to make mobile doesn’t work well. That is due to both the much higher angle with the short stance and top heavy nature of the jointer/planer. When I try it on a normal planner and tablet saw setup, it worked very well. That was really the only limitation on this style of mobile base.

I put the mobile base on my 10” table saw. It’s takes about 60 seconds to wheel it out into the driveway and get to work. Very happy with the ordering process as well as the product.

I made a few rolling platforms and they did the job but this one handles some of the heavier items I need to move around the shop.

All the parts for assembly, were thoughtfully packaged, with the nuts & washers all on their respective bolts. Although the assembly is rather intuitive, I found myself looking at the pictures on the box for assurance. The assembly instructions manual included a 3″ x 4″ picture of all the parts & how they are to be assembled, but it was too small for me to easily see what to do. It included plenty of instructions, but I feel a much larger picture of the assembly, perhaps a foldout picture & fewer words, would help many of us.I used this mobile base under a 20″ x 48″ work bench. I can now easily move the work bench around the shop to the equipment I’m working on. The wheels provide a fluid motion, even on my rough concrete floor. When I wanted to stop, the foot lever locking mechanism, prevented any further movement.

The PM2500 is an excellent, well built product. The only downside is the instruction diagram is so small it is nearly impossible to figure out the right parts for the correct locations. Use the box picture and the written instructions to figure out what you can and use process of elimination for the remainder. In addition, there were four nylon spacers in the parts that are not referenced in the diagram or instructions. I figured out during assembly they needed to go on either side of the Foot Levers. The kit comes with rails that can be adjusted in one inch increments and they can be configured in square (12 in. x 12 in. to 36 in. x 36 in.) or rectangle (up to 20 in. x 52 in) configurations that support up to 650 pounds.Assembly of the parts showed good design and fit. Once it was all together there were no reservations about the stability or quality of the product. In my specific case I replaced the original casters on my 30+ year old table saw with this base and it significantly improved the mobility,If you have a tight storage space, keep in mind this base has the fixed set of wheels on the sides of the rails and the the casters mount to the front or sides so you have to plan a few more inches beyond the base configuration for floor space. This is really a five star product but the instruction issues resulted in the loss of one star.

Originally I ordered on for my table saw and was so pleased with it that I ordered another for my band saw. They are easily assembled and work perfectly in a small shop area.

This is the greatest portable base! I have a heavy drill press in a corner of my workshop and once it was there it was never moved, but after getting this base, my problem is solved! I can now move it out of the corner and have more room to work. The unit itself was very easy to put together. The great part about it is that I can adjust the expandable sections and it can accommodate my other larger heavy machines with no problem. It is high quality construction, and the wheels are not some dinky things.A great helpful addition to my workshop!

It handles my radial arm saw and cabinet easily. It was a little awkward getting the mobile base underneath the cabinet but once there, everything works nicely. Raising and lowering the front wheels is simple and it rolls on my concrete floor with very little effort. NOW I can clean out behind the saw

Very sturdy and mobile base. Used on a cast iron table Craftsman table saw. Very happy with purchase. Moves saw around my garage very well and when dropped in place stays put well.

I stopped everything to assemble this base as soon as I got it. A fairly easy job needing only a few wrenches.I think this a fantastic base because;1- It is easily adjustable for the majority of machine bases in it’s weight class2- It sets low to the ground making it very stable. You don’t have high casters with a base on top but the casters fit inside the frame with minimal clearance to the ground. Could be a problem if you have an elevation change. My garage entrance raises about an inch and I just lightly scrape bottom of frame. 3- The castor wheels raise base with minimal pressure and it sets on solid stops when lowered. No wheel breaks.4 – The castor and stationary wheels can be located for direction to suit your preferences.5 – it has holes in the base so you can add your own clamping device if you feel the need to attach machine base to mobile base. The only difficulty I had was reading the assembly manual, the diagram is so small my old eyes needed magnifying lense to see clearly. Manual is in English, French and Spanish.

used this for a washer and dryer stacked. The unit required different locking nuts to keep it from vibrating apart
