PORTAMATE has been a pioneer in developing strong, sturdy mobile bases for woodworking and machine shop tools, so it is no surprise that we’re leading the pack again with this 1500 lb. universal mobile base. It’s an industrial strength, fully-adjustable rolling platform – with a weight capacity that exceeds the competition by hundreds of pounds. Like our other mobile bases, this base increases and decreases size in 1 inch increments. Going from 20.75 x 23.75 in. to 28 x 33.5 in. The all-steel construction, solid corner brackets, and four casters (with foot control locking levers) ensure the strength and stability that you are looking for. The PM-3550 is ideal for virtually all larger machines, like band saws, planers, jointers, and many more. It is also the perfect rolling base for cabinets, large safes, heavy tool boxes, or anything else you need to make mobile. Everything needed is included and backed by a 1-year warranty.
- 1500 lbs. capacity – our heaviest duty adjustable universal mobile base
- Your largest machines and power tools can be mounted and moved with ease – table saws, band saws, planers, jointers, shapers, spindle sanders
- The increased weight capacity makes it ideal for larger (and heavier) square/rectangle objects, like metal cabinets, toolboxes, safes, gun cabinets
- Easy to use foot-operated locking levers, which locks the base firmly into place. 3 inch ball bearing wheels and casters for an effortless glide
- Very low profile – only increasing machine height by 1 inch
- Wheels are 360° swivel wheels

High quality materials and easy assembly! My only drawback is that the swivel wheels are very stiff and do spin very easily. I will have to add some WD 40 and hopefully that helps.

I bought this mobile base to support a 500 + pound Powermatic jointer. Once I got things put together and the jointer in place, I was impressed with the quality materials, clear assembly instructions and super easy mobility the base provided. My one concern was the the footplate support brackets seemed to deflect downwards under the weight a bit more than I thought was appropriate. I solved this issue by ordering an 18″ x 25″ x 3/16″ steel plate that I installed on the foot plates underneath the jointer stand to allow a wider distribution of the weight over the base support brackets. I believe this has alleviated any concerns I may have had regarding support integrity. This is probably overkill on my part, but it allows me to be a bit more comfortable knowing the mobile base will do the job I bought it for without worrying about potential failure. The jointer glides across my shop with ease and settles down into a solid support when lowered into position.

The best mobile base in my shop. I would definitely buy it again. Kind of exspensive, but worth it.

This is the fourth BORA mobile base I have purchased for my shop. This four swivel caster base is for my planer and works perfectly. I have owned mobile bases from three other manufactures and these have the best fit and finish.

Have not used it yet but as far as I can tell it will be an asset in moving my tablesaw around.

Purchased this base a few weeks ago for my old heavy table saw. Product arrived at least a week earlier than promised. Was simple to assemble, adjust to length/width, and install saw on top of base by myself. This base is very solidly made: all heavy gauge metal, heavy duty casters. With four casters, I can store my saw in a tight space against the shop wall, and move it into position using two fingers. Foot-actuated levers work almost effortlessly to engage feet and lock unit into place.I can see why it is rated for 1,500 lbs.
