Drill itself works great, but does have a slight overheating sensation when under stress. I was trying to bore a 4″ hole (with a hole saw/Arbor combo) and could only go in 15 second spurts before a distinct overheating smell came out amd the drill was seeding to the touch. Admittedly, cutting a 4″ hole is taxing on a drill, so I’ll go 4 star… Drilling a standard hole will be a lot easier! Also, not sure if this was HDs fault or FedEx, but the ‘box’ in came in was anything but… Literally a hole in the side with the cord dangling out. Drill works, no damage, assume the FedEx simply kicked it around the truck all day… But. That box was hashed.

I had the same thing back in Europe. That was for 230V / 50Hz. That one came with the ruler and the addition grip that goes around the neck (at the chuck). This one in the states apparently doesn’t. It is still powerful and the speed adjusting works great. Would be nice if there was adjusting for the torque. The chuck works great, doesn’t slip. The drill is kind of heavy though so if you plan to use it for redoing your deck (the way I did) your wrist is going to be sore for sure. It’s is a great product, and reliable.

I was wondering if it was just my horrible luck and I got a bad drill … and then I read about the same issues and problems in the first few reviews. I was very much hoping this would be my final drill and that it would be a really good one and be and do all like it is advertised to be and do….but it is not! I read: “…, but does have a slight overheating sensation …” I just got this drill and as I am using it for the first time, I can smell a slight burning smell coming from it …scary!I also read: “ … Also, not sure if this was HDs fault or FedEx, but the ‘box’ in came in was anything but… Drill works, no damage, assume the FedEx simply kicked it around the truck all day… But. That box was hashed.” My box was also trashed and taped up quite a bit and there was no protective covering or wrapping around the drill and nothing else inside but the manual. I also wondered if it was a returned item.Read same issue again with someone else: “The drill arrived in a box that looked like it had been opened and then retaped. The drill was in the box with no packaging leading me to think this may have been a return. Fortunately, the drill works but I’ am not pleased with the condition it was received in.” My same thoughts. And one of my biggest disappointments: same as the person writes: “It’s very powerful, but too heavy for long time use. I need something I can hold for a long time…” I was thinking it was not going to be as fast and powerful starting out as it is especially with the variable speed, which does not feel like it works, and lower amp of 6.3. I have been using a drill that is too heavy now and it says it is about 5 lbs. and this drill was advertised as a much lighter drill but it feels much heavier.Another comment: “it doesn’t have speed control. It’s very hard to hold and maintain the same level of pressure. This drill is only good for drilling fast.” I agree and don’t like that issue. I think it should be able to start out slower and increase speed as I increase pressure on the trigger!

Overall a good quality, heavy duty corded drill. Inserting and removing bits and drills is easy. It is a bit heavy so continual use would be difficult.

This drill is great. Looked at other brands and decided on Bosch for its reputation as quality. The best part was the price was considerably lower than comparative brands. I know this drill will last a long time.

This drill was easy to use and not too loud. I especially liked using a corded drill. I was even able to use it as a power screw driver. It also fits in my hand better than some of the big drills. Although I have used many with a chuck attachment, the chuck-less feature was nice as well.
