Motor seized up first 30 minutes of use. Must be just bad luck. Returned it with no problem. The new one works great. Very smooth even on seasoned oak. I like it a lot

Great Router, in every way! This router was a replacement for another brand. It is well built and thought out. One of my best purchases!

I just used the router for the first time. The soft start and constant speed was good. The switch was inadvertently turned on twice. It’s placement is a little problematic. Also – this tool did not include a manual. I was able to figure out how to use it, but I enjoy going through the manuals of new tools. I would have liked one with this tool.

I bought this for my router table. Got it mounted with only minor modifications to the table. All necessary mounting screws were included. Love the T-handle for raising and lowering above the table. Makes adjustments a breeze. The router clamps firmly into its base and won’t even wiggle when locked down. The router I replaced has the same HP rating, but always slowed down as a cut progressed. The Bosch shows no drop in RPMs from the first touch until the cut is finished. Perhaps it has the same HP but more torque? I’m not sure I’d buy this router for use other than on a router table for the simple fact that the switch is located in an awkward position, necesitating having one hand off the machine to turn on the power. A built in shaft lock would be nice, but the design makes using the shaft wrench much easier than I had anticipated. As long as I don’t forget to remove the wrench before hitting the power, everything will be cool.

Not a single problem so far with the router. Everything about it is impressive.

Bought it when my Craftsman pro cullit died and I couldn’t buy a replacement. I think its a much better router.

The Bosch 1617 EVS router is a workhorse of a router for not only using with the plunge/fixed bases, but also for using in a router table. I’ve owned 3 of these routers and have gotten great results using everything from a straight bit to large diameter profile bits. If you are going to run raised panel bits every day you may want to get a router with more power, but for everything else, this router fits the bill.Pros:- Great price- Works with both 1/4″ and 1/2″ bits- If using in a router table, and your router table insert plate has the proper holes, you can raise the bit from above the table using the included tool. This isn’t the best option, but it works.- Bosch carries plenty of accessories for this router including an edge guide, dust collection adapters, collets and more.- Plenty of power for everyday use. Been using these routers for roughly 8 years now.Cons:- Although I did mention the ability to raise the bit from above the table, that mechanism doesn’t work well for very long and you will have to keep dust out of the screws that raise and lower the machine.- After you get some use on the router, the collets are a pain to get the bits out when changing bits. They get stuck and require other means of getting them out.

This is my second 1617EVS Bosh router. The first has preformed very well and is now mounted in my router table so got another to use free hand. Just one of my other quality Bosh power tools!

purchased the 1617evs because I needed a router with 1/2 collet. Have 3 other routers but all with only 1/4 collets. This is without a doubt the best of the bunch not only because of the duel collet sizes but it is quiet, easy to set up, and simply a great router.

I have been using a Bosch 1617evs for many years with great success. I didn’t like putting it in and out of the table for handheld use so when I bought a new TS with a router table wing I decided to upgrade the entire thing. New lift and new router. I chose the Bosch because it had been dependable for years. I am glad I made this choice and am considering getting a third 1617evs as I make beautiful things and sometimes have to change out bits in a circular fashion. It would be better to just have multiple preset during a build.

This router is very powerful and extremely smooth and quite in operation! Routed a solid cherry live-edge table slab with no problem.

I purchased this router as it is one that is supported by the KREG Insert Plate (Pre-drilled). I have mounted it to the insert plate but have not used it as I am still in the process of building a router extension on the right side of my table saw. Once that is done I look to use it a lot. The only thing negative is that I didn’t receive a Chip Shield in my box.

I purchased the router about a month ago. I looked at different brands and makes and I remembered back to my high schookl years the router I sued to make an end table, Bosch. I had never purchased a router for myself however after reflecting on the past I bought Bosch for my un coming project. I believe Bosch stands for quality, durability and grfeat preformance. I bought this router specifically for a floor I’m making. My friend and I are making a solid wood floor out of 3″ wide wood planks, tongue and groove. I bought this router for this project and so far it does the job great. I haven’t used it for anything else and I can’t be any more specific than this. Some of the features attracted me to this router, the variable speed, motor speed and so much more. I’m not a professional but I would recommend this router for the “do it yourself” handy man.

This monster took 2 fresh water basement floods and one brackish water flood from hurricane florance where it was under water for 3 days and left outside for 4 months, then I beat the snot out of of it plaining dry beechwood. Took 5 logs both sides, before she smoked. I already bought a new one. Bosch routers are the only way to go!
