I needed to drill a ten inch hole in a tree stump. The sizes offered were 4” 6” or 16 “. I took the 16 but it went down maybe 6” deepest. The length made me a bit concerned it might break. I am waiting and will try again to go deeper. The tree was a crepe myrtle so maybe just the wood.

I bought this to drill through a 4×4 and 2×4 to bolt together so I needed the long shank. This bit wants to drill and fast. But it kept jamming in the hole every 2 inch’s. One time I had to use a socket and wrench to even start to back it out. If you want to punch through a 2×4 quick this is it, but not with a long shank. Maybe that’s why it was on clearence.

Tough bit. Perfect for drilling holes vertically in floor joists for electrical wiring in my sunroom. I hit a few nails in the process; didn’t try to go through them (used a metal bit with an extension) but the good news is that the Bosch bit didn’t appear damaged at all from the metal contact. No breaks or chips and it still cuts as good as new. Well worth the price.
