I used the 1 1/4 bit to drill a hole through 1″ pvc as soon as it screwed in i was through it!And the shavings where so big i could pick them up and throw them away! These are the best!!!

This is axcellent set of spade bits. The screw point makes centering easy and helps drive the bits through hardwood. And the case keeps them together and show me immediately if one is missing..

The screw point on the bits are a bit too aggressive pulling the bit through the wood. The result is, to use these bits you almost need a 1/2 inch drill that has the power to overcome what the screw tip is doing. I finally predrilled the center of the holes with a 1/4 inch bit so the screw tip had nothing to grab. Just takes more time.

The look of these bits almost threw me off but there’s a hidden power in these beasts. These drill bits are fast. The screw tip holds the bit centered and the paddle THROWs wood chips as it demolishes its way through the wood. I experimented a bit with these across different drills and woods. Here’s what I found. If you want to get through wood fast and don’t care about appearances (say when you’re cutting a hole in a stud to run wire) these work great up to 3/4′ for a hand drill. The end will be messy if you don’t have a sacrificial board to drill into.If you want a crisp and clean cut, you need a drill press. Run them a little faster than regular spade bits at 2000 rpm for softwoods and 1800 rpm for hardwood into a sacrificial board. It’s hard to stop this guy when it punches through so you can back out, flip and use that hole to enter from the other side, even in a drill press so the sacrificial board is the faster way. Holes get drilled faster and are perfectly clean. The carrying case is handsome, durable and easy to use. The sides are open so saw dust doesn’t accumulate and fits right into the bit shelf.

I love this bits. I used the 5/8″ bit to go through some 2×6’s and it chewed through them in two literal seconds. Some people claimed they were hard to control and didn’t cut smoothly, but in my opinion that a pack of lies. I also tried out some regular spade bits and these cut much smoother by far.

Hobbyist wood worker. Non-commercial usage. These replaced a 15yr old set of standard paddle bits. Have had these for 6 months, and use mostly with hand-held drill. They hold their position and don’t wander. Have used 3/8, 5/8 and 3/4 over 100 times each, and no signs of wear. Most frequently use on 1/2 pine and sheet goods.Nice case, but attracts dust if left out.

Bought the bits on sale to replace some older steel bits. Used them to drill wiring holes through oak cabinets and was impressed at how fast and clean they drilled.

Used these to bore some holes in 4x4s. worked great. And at the price point it was a little over $1 per spade bit. can’t beat the price and the design. They pull themselves through with the screw tip center point.
