the mounting screw (1/4-20 thread) is too small. I made my own adapter to fit my tripod which is 5/6-11 treads. using the tripod means that you can crank it up or down to re “zero” a line over the wall if you have to move it and reset. it is a good unit and the level function is great.

The Bosch Company makes quality tools at affordable prices. This rotating laser is very accurate horizontal and vertical. It is super easy to set up and operate. This laser makes lettering, stenciling, and much more easier and straighter. How do you get perfectly straight lines on uneven surfaces? You get this 360 degree laser. It can even help line things up in multiple rooms when set up properly.

Its the best 250 have ever spent. I can also run diagnal tiles with this by turning off the automatic leveling function.

The Bosch 65 ft. 360 Degree Horizontal Cross-Line Laser Level is a versatile, wel-designed tool which is useful for many applications, some of which would be difficult to achieve without it. The breakthrough technology is the 360-degree level line. With it you can ensure objects across a room are on the same level. It also has a horizontal line level mode and a vertical line level mode. Its automatic leveling function (which may be turned off if desired) is another amazing feature. The laser line is much stronger and easier to read than with my previous laser level. I have had no need to wear laser glasses. It has a magnetic arm which makes it easy to attach to a metal object to check for level. It also may be attached to a tripod for setting the height and for stabilizing the unit. It fits easily into my small hand, is lightweight, and comes with a carrying case that may be attached to one’s belt. I would have loved to have had this tool when I was installing electrical outlets in a new room. With this level, it would not have been necessary to measure every installation from the floor to get a uniform height. It is obvious useful for hanging pictures, drapery rods, or other wall hangings. I found it useful in for identifying the direction of the slope on a dehumidifier drain line. For more than a year, the drain line worked well. Then the unit’s bucket filled up and the unit turned off. With a conventional level, it still appeared that the drain line was flowing downward. With the laser level, it was apparent that the drain was level. Something had caused a change. After removing the strap holding up the pipe, the laser lever then confirmed that the slope was now downward. See photos. In the second case, we had suspected that the kitchen counter was sinking. The laser level output showed us that indeed the right corner was settling. See photo. This Bosch laser level is truly an outstanding tool. One area for improvement is the explanation of the tool’s warranty. The current warranty information is oblique. The box says “2 year warranty” in large letters. Then it goes on to say “Register your product to become eligible.” It then says “See owners manual for further details.” The difficulty for the consumer is that the details are in the box and there is no way to open the box without annihilating the packaging. The “Further details” say that the warranty is ONE year if you do not register but TWO years if you do. The registration process requests some personal information that seems irrelevant for registration. If one fails to provide the sensitive information, does that imply that the warranty will only be for one year? Why not keep it simple, e.g., on the box say “2 Year Warranty – registration or receipt needed for replacement or repair.” The registration form should also make clear what is required and what is optional.

I got the cross line laser level because I got tired of holding the level on one hand and marking with the other. I have also used a suction style laser level, but it didn’t work well on rough surfaces and sometimes moved or the laser would not project well on the wall…enter the cross line level and after its first use you will find it is money well spent. If you are installing shelves or frames on several walls, just place it in the center of the room, turn it on and you have perfect level bright lines all around. Right next to where they sell the level, they also have the tripods…those come in very handy, and if doing more than one job I also recommend you get it. Bosch makes a quality product that performs flawlessly.

This is a nice level that will project a horizontal level line all the way around the room and also can project a vertical line in front. You can change the mode to have just the horizontal line, just the vertical line or both. Runs on 4 AA batteries which are included. Lines are bright and easy to see indoors. Can project up to 65 ft, the self-levelling happens quickly. You just need to get it within 4 degrees of level first. On/off switch turns off the unit and locks the self-leveling pendulum swing. There’s a lock button you can use if you want to project lines that aren’t leel. Unlick other self-leveling laser levels I’ve used this lock button doesn’t actually lock the pendulum. It just keeps the laser from turning off when it’s past 4 degrees. That means if for some reason you need to project a line that’s 0 to 4 degrees off level you can’t really do it with this. Probably not something most people would really need to do with this though. The bracket that comes with it is pretty neat but doesn’t have a wide range of motion. It’s basically just an L-bracket with a couple of magnets. This would be a good bracket to use in a commercial space with metal studs. You can mount the magnetic bracket to a steel stud and project the lines for doing other work such as installing a drop ceiling grid, marking heights of outlets, switches and things like that.Comes with a case that can be hooked on your belt easily with a velcro belt loop. Nice thing about the case is it not only fits the level but also the bracket. Another Bosch laser level I have only holds the level, not the bracket. If you plan to use this laser level (or most any other laser level) a lot I would recommend getting a good, sturdy, heavy photographic tripod. That will give you greater flexibility and control over the placement of your lines. There’s a standard 1/4-20 threaded insert in the bottom of the level.Level appears to be well made and constructed of durable plastic.

This is a device I wished I started with when developing my basement. I bought it when I installed a suspended ceiling and what a difference it made.I suggest to register your tool as I did not and will in the future. I had a mishap with the level and ended damaging the top laser protector. I called Bosch and was in luck I only had it for a short period and was directed to send in for a fix. I did so and in a short time later I ended up with a new unit. I suppose it could not be repaired. With great thanks to Bosch for taking care of every thing. I am one happy customer

This laser isn’t bad. I would say it feels a little cheaper than the Bosch Lasers I have purchased in the past.Comes with everything you need to use this right out of the box.Off switch actually locks the internal mechanism so it’s not bouncing around when you driving down the road.Auto leveling. You can select horizontal 360 line, vertical line, or both. The vertical line is much more prominent that the horizontal 360 deg line. There are two magnets on the attached stand that are neodymium type and are pretty strong. I would say this is a really good tool for the DIY person that may be putting shelves in the garage, or cabinets in the kitchen. For someone doing commercial work this might not be quite enough.Bosch lasers are my go to for lasers, They are good, affordable, and just work. My oldest Bosch laser is probably 5 years old and has been dropped, kicked, thrown, and beat to death in my toolbox. They just continue to work.

Easy to use. Not for full sun use. Using a tripod helps a lot.

Works well. I needed to use it outdoors and found that i could see the laser better over 65 feet at night/dusk. I have not totally figured all of the uses. Luckily for me and because I needed to use it near the ground, its height was just right. Any taller and it would have not worked for me. I think in the long run I can find other helpful uses.

This is another fine product that I purchased from HD that I have no idea how to use and haven’t seen since I bought it several weeks ago but I would highly recommend it because I like the way the name “Bosch” just rolls off the tongue. Dewalt sounds like a brick hitting a wall, Bosch sounds like a wave hitting the beach. Boschhhhhhh.

In regards to suspended ceiling installation. The clap as shown in the manual does “NOT” clamp on ceiling grid as shown, It must be hung on the wall or mounted onto a tripod. Tripod cost extra.

When my 10 year old rotary laser level broke I purchased the Bosch GLL 2-20 and am very happy with it. The self-leveling feature works perfectly and removes the worry that the laser may have been knocked out of level which is something that could happen with my old one.Its small size, use of AA batteries and mounts that are included in carrying case make it easy to transport and use. My one complaint is that the laser isn’t as bright as I had hoped; I was using it to keep a chair rail level in a room with a lot of natural light and it was difficult to see.

If you’re accustomed to using tape measures, string levels, long contractor levels, plumb bobs and inexpensive laser levels to tackle tile wall layouts, suspended ceiling grid layouts, window/door framing and so forth, this tool will probably beat them all for ease of use and accuracy, provided you’re not working in brightly lit conditions. The inexpensive levels I have used were a waste of money, projecting a beam that was seldom useful. I really wish I had this product in hand when I was tackling those projects. This product gives the feeling of a well-built tool, beginning with the solid casing material. Operation of the laser’s standard features is fairly intuitive, which is very helpful because who wants to search for the instructions in the middle of a job? The self-balancing feature is a blessing when working in older houses when nothing you rest the laser on is likely to be level. The bright laser is easily read indoors in areas of indirect sunlight or dimness. Under those conditions, I was able to see the line projections from 35’ in a dimly lit setting, but was limited to 10’ to 15’ in a big room with large patio doors (see pictures). Outdoor visibility is nonexistent. The laser came with a single attachment – a positioning device that screws into the bottom of the laser, that allows (1) horizontal surface mounting or (2) wall mounting of the laser with screws or (with an internal magnet) to a metal stud or surface. The laser can also be affixed to a tripod using the ¼-20 mounting thread on the bottom of the device. (see pictures) The user manual indicates that an additional mounting device is also available for separate purchase that will accommodate mounting the laser to ceiling grids, etc. The laser uses 4 alkaline AA batteries that are supplied with the kit, and easily installed without tools. I’ve had the tool for just a short time, so I can’t say how long the batteries will last. Unlike some other Bosch laser models, this one does not have an automatic shutoff feature, so if you forget to turn off the laser, you could be out of luck next time you go to use it. Unfortunately, this sort of thing has happened to me more than I care to admit.Operation of the laser itself is straightforward, with a “mode” button that allows instant switching between projecting a horizontal line, a vertical laser line or a cross-point (both lines intersecting) each time it is pressed. The laser will display a line that completely wraps around the room – great for positioning chair molding, cabinets or hanging patterned wallpaper, tile, etc on adjacent or opposing walls. There may be times you want a straight line, but not a level one and in those instances, the auto-level feature is easily deactivated with the push of a button. The tool comes with a brief instruction manual that includes a few graphic illustrations that show how the tool can be used for a wide variety of measurement applications. However, there is no indication that there is any way to mechanically confirm the accuracy of the level and plumb lines, or to recalibrate them. Finally, it comes with a small nicely fabricated tool pouch, with Velcro closure to protect the laser in storage. Although this is a quality precision tool, well-designed for the serious DIY’er and professional tradesman, the limited visibility of the laser lines in brightly lit areas could pose a problem for some applications, and might require a trial usage to determine if this is the right tool for your situation.
