We use lasers frequently during home construction, laying out walls, installing windows, hanging cabinets, tile work and many other tasks. The Bosch 3-line laser is one of the best we have used. It is resistant to water and dust and more rugged than other lasers we have used. It is self leveling and indicates when out of level. It has two vertical and one horizontal lines and a plumb-bob laser. It also comes with a nice little turning base for rotating the laser lines.

Needed a Laser right away was able to purchase at HD off shelf. I usually carry a line laser and point because you have to be toofar away to transfer a point with a line unit. This model is able to do both as shown in picture. 90l degree line is a must and works well stand is help full for fine adjusting with rotating knob. Unit pendant locks automatically for transporting when shut off. Pulses when out of level. lines are sharp, was looking into the green beams but were twice the price and had to be ordered. as stated earlier needed it right now. Good all around unit for door frames, cabinets, flooring layout, framing and small commercial layout. it will work with remote sound unit if purchased separately for out side work in sunlight. i am able to carry one unit for all applications now.Gave it 4 stars because I haven had it long we will see how it holds up

The Bosch Model GLL 3-50 S 165 ft. 3-Line Laser Measure with Layout Beam is an outstanding product. It is easy to use and works well. It has multiple modes for displaying the laser: horizontal only, horizontal and vertical, vertical forward and vertical to the right side, all modes on at same time. It also shows a plumb dot straight down at all times. The horizontal/vertical lines also project straight up to the ceiling. Pulse laser mode (not visible to the human eye) for use with a receiver (not included) is also an option with this unit. The device is accurate to 1/8 inch at 33 feet and it self levels up to 4 degrees. If the device exceeds four degrees out of level it will blink the laser lines to indicate you need to adjust it closer to natural level. There is also a mode for manual leveling. It has tripod mount points for both 1/4”-20 (standard camera tripod) and 5/8”-11. It includes a base with small tripod feet that add maybe two inches of height and the ability to rotate 360 degrees by hand or with a dial on the base. The base also allows the plumb dot to display down to the floor. A carrying bag and 4 AA batteries are included as well. The manual provides numerous pictures of operating modes and methods. It also provides clear instructions for validating the accuracy of the level lines. One cannot adjust the accuracy but instead the tool must be sent to an authorized service center.

Using the Bosch Model GLL 3-50 S 165 ft. 3-Line Laser Measure with Layout Beam is really a pleasure. This is my first experience with using a laser “anything” and I’m very impressed with the simplicity and accuracy of this product. It’s just “outstanding”. All my experience has been with using a standard “transit”, and this “one man” laser gadget is quite the ticket! It displays the laser in several modes: horizontal only, horizontal and vertical (which also projects up on the ceiling), vertical forward and vertical to the right side, or it’ll display all modes on at the same time. It also always displays a plumb dot straight down through the base. In addition, it also has a “pulse” laser mode that you can use with a receiver (the receiver is not included). The unit is accurate to 1/8 inch at 33 feet and it self-levels up to 4 degrees. There are 3 positions on the On/Off switch: Off, Manual Leveling, and Self-Leveling. The Self-Leveling position on the switch releases an internal pendulum and the unit will correctly level itself automatically up to 4 degrees. If the device exceeds four degrees out of level it will blink the laser lines to indicate you need to adjust it. That 4 degree automatic level is a real time saver vs fine tuning the level manually. The bottom of the laser slides into an included small tripod base that has small feet that extend to add up to two inches of height. That included tripod base allows you to turn the laser unit 360 degrees by hand, and it also has a small knob which allows a very smooth fine rotation. The laser unit’s bottom also has built-in tripod mount points for both 1/4”-20 and 5/8”-11 tripod mounts. A carrying bag, instruction manual and 4 AA batteries are included as well, though the carrying bag fits only the unit itself, and not the small tripod base. The manual is very comprehensive and provides many pictures of the operating modes and methods. It also provides instructions for validating the accuracy of the level lines, though the tool must be sent to an authorized service center for adjustment if it is off. There are several other Bosch accessories available that work with this unit, including a Bosch Wall Mount that includes Multi-Mounting Systems, a Bosch (BP350) Telescoping Pole System and a Bosch (LR2) Laser Receiver, though they are not included with this unit.Overall I’m very impressed with this unit. This is a “way cool” tool, and I highly recommend it!

This is set up perfectly for metal stud framing. My only complaint is that the fine adjustment knob moves the unit too quickly.

It will help me with the ceiling grid. The tile grid in the bath. The swimming pool and the depth to which I need to dig. With new batteries, the laser is powerful enough to be seen when the cloud cover is light. GREAT TOOL.

I own a remodeling company and we use the laser all the time. My guys usually grab this one over others, mainly because the base the laser sits on is great. I really hope Bosch makes a green laser version. I would buy it in a minute.

I’m using this laser for restoration projects in a 102 year old home. I started out using a tape measure, nails and a chalk line to snap marks for tin ceiling layout. What a pain (up on scaffolding) to get the starter and pattern continuation layout lines snapped. I did one of the many rooms that I have to do this way… then smartened up and bought the Bosch GLL-3-50 laser. Wow! WTH was I thinking before? This tool cuts my project time and increases accuracy greatly. I do agree with previous reviewers that the leveling legs on the stand should have some sort of threaded adjustment. It would save a lot of time getting to the 4 degree range where the unit self levels. Also the blocking of the pendulum laser on a full tripod should be addressed. Still, even with working around those shortcomings this tool will pay for itself many times over considering all the other projects I have on this restoration.

Finally had a chance to get this out of the box and give it a try. Very nice! Bright lines front, side and above, very helpful for setting a baseboard line and making sure the trim around the windows is straight. Seems very well built, comes with the four batteries required, a pivoting stand, and has to apertures in the bottom for your choice of tripod attachments. Next job for it will be a cover for the deck and I’m very much looking forward to setting the lines with this little jewel.

I am so excited to have this Bosch 3-line laser measure! Typically anyone working on construction or home maintenance use this but I also plan to use this for the local Quilt Guild who have to hang up quilts every year for their quilt show. In the past they would spend so much time hanging each entry to be level and aligned. How nice it will be to accurately hang everything in all directions! The one horizontal line and two vertical lines will make set up a breeze! Now we can get more accuracy with this laser and enjoy the show!

Overall I found this to be an easy line tool to use. When shooting all of its outputs it puts a cross mark in front of the unit and above the unit along with a plumb dot straight down. In other modes it can only output a horizontal line in front, horizontal and vertical lines in front, or horizontal/vertical lines above (all modes include the plumb mark down). In addition this can operate in a self-leveling mode (it can correct for up to 4 degrees off level), or a “locked” mode where the lines are output relative to whatever angle the unit is at.This unit has both 1/4″ – 20 and 5/8″ – 11 tripod mounts on the bottom, but do note that you need a fairly small tripod and head if you are going to make use of the plumb dot that shines out the bottom, or the tripod/head will block that output. The power is provided by 4 AA alkaline cells. The stated working range under “standard” conditions is listed as 33′, but the farther you get from the unit the dimmer the lines get, so the real working distance depends on how much ambient light there is where you are working. This kit does come with some accessories: 1) a reflector to make it easier to see on spot from a farther distance; 2) a rotating base (a tiny tripod); 3) a carrying case for the main unit that can fit on your belt (it’s a tight fit, so you won’t fit any accessories in it at the same time). The directions for the unit itself I found to be pretty good. They also include extensive instructions on how to verify the accuracy of the unit leveling to make sure it is performing as it should. However, I found the directions on using accessories to be quite sparse, including the reflector and small rotating mount, so if using accessories is important to you, you may want to do some online research on their use before purchasing them. Also note that different laser units Bosch makes are different widths, so if you have existing accessories you are planning to use with this, verify that they will fit this unit..The stated warranty is 1-year parts and labor, which can be extended to 2 years if you register it within 60 days of purchase.

Very happy with this unit. Very easy to use and base is great for uneven surfaces. Lines are crisp and easy to see.

I originally left a 1 star review because it was just not level. It had one job to do (create a level line) and it couldn’t. I sent it in for repair and Bosch sent me a brand new unit (I was in my 1 year warranty period). The new unit is flawless! I get a level line! I’m very happy. I just hope the unit continues to work flawlessly and I just happened to luck out with a dud.
