I wished I knew about laser measuring tool years back when I was tackling numerous reno jobs. This little beauty does all your measuring needs quickly and accurately. There were times when was on a job site by myself and wished I had a helper but with this thing, you don’t need one. The BT feature is great. While the connectivity and app is not very intuitive, it sure is handy to have.I do admit, the plastic flip down tab is a little flimsy and wished it was made of metal or wider. However, having this unit built with rechargeable Li-ion battery is a plus in terms of operating time before having to recharge. I guess, one can say it is also a negative if you can’t find a USB cable for charging when needed on a job site.I would like to comment however that there were reviews of how limiting this product was in the fact that you are limited to the units of measurement to the country the product was bought in. I do believe you can change this unit via the BT app by going into the GLM setting. Although I wished a simple button on the unit itself would be more handy. There’s even space for this button on the top right corner and I wish BOSCH would include it in future models. Makes switching and comparing measurements in different units easier, an oversight which otherwise I would give this product a full 5 star rating. Conclusion: I rate this 4.5 stars!

I’ve been using this for about a year now. I use it for measuring longer distances, it seems to work well inside at most distances I’ve tried it. I’ve compared it to a tape measure and it is always close. Great for a quick measure.

I bought this tool a few months ago, and it so effective, efficient and convenient. I am a commercial real estate broker. I use it every other day to measure industrial properties. It saves me a huge amount of time, and all of the client’s are always so impressed with my us of such a professional accurate tool. Thanks Bosch !

It comes with a lanyard, belt holster, 24″ Micro-B USB cable for PC connection and charger. It’s smaller than I expected, but study and easy to handle.I found the lanyard attachment fussy and it got in the way, so I ended up not using it.The back-lit display is easy to read except at extreme angles when it washes out. There are 4 measurement locations that can be selected – front, back, tripod mount, and froma 1.5″ fold-out pin on the back that allows measurements in corners or other hard-to-reach places. There are a number of units settings that can be changed at any time, but it requires going into the GLM basic settings to change it – it’s not a simple button press.I checked the calibration first. Taking 10 measurements at a distance of 10′, the maximum variation was 1/32″ (0.8mm), handily exceeding the 1.5mm accuracy rating. The angle calibration was off by 0.8 degrees, so I followed the calibration instructions to recalibrate. It was difficult for me to understand the calibration diagrams on the screen, but it’s a simple 4-step process. (1) Lay it on its back, (2) swap ends, (3) lay it on its side, and (4) swap ends. The end result was a match within 0.2 degrees, again exceeding the 0.3 degree accuracy rating. When measuring angles and used on its back, angles can be measured from 0 to 60 degrees. When used on its side, all angles can be measured. On its side, it beeps to let you know when you’re within 0.5 degrees of level, beeping faster when you reach 0 degrees. The screen automatically rotates from vertical to horizontal when the GLM is tilted sideways, but unlike a smart device where the screen will rotate at a 45 degree tilt, the GLM doesn’t rotate until it’s within 5 degrees of being horizontal. I found it much easier to just lay it down on its side to get it to rotate rather than hand-holding it sideways. It has a bunch of functions that you can read about in the product literature. The unique feature of the GLM is integration with your PC, iThing, and AndroidThing. All the associated software and applications are free. The GLM can retain up to 50 measurements. These measurements can be downloaded to a PC using the GLM Transfer Software. You connect by USB with the PC, open the GLM Transfer Software, and press “Get Data”. It connects to the GLM and imports and displays all the measurements. From there you can transfer them to an Excel spreadsheet, the clipboard to be pasted into Word or Notepad, or a text file. You can also erase the measurements on the GLM. I tested the program on a Windows 7 PC and it worked flawlessly. The only hiccup is that it says “not connected” until you press the “get data” button, leading me to initially think there was something wrong with the USB connection. The Transfer Software displays and exports data in the units set in the GLMThe IOS and Android apps do not import stored measurements from the GLM. Once connected by Bluetooth, any subsequent measurements you take with the GLM are recorded by your smart device. The smart device can also be used as a remote control to operate and change settings on the GLM. There are separate settings for the GLM and the app, so you can have one units setting on the GLM and a different one on the app.The most amazing feature is the “sketch” option in the smart device app. It lets you take a picture of the thing you’re measuring, draw in measurement lines or angles with your finger (including a neat “zoom” on the line ends to allow precise placement), select an item, and then the next measurement you make with the GLM is attached to that item. I tested the app on my iPod Touch 5th generation (IOS 7) and my Android 4.0 tablet and it worked well on both devices.I used the GLM to take measurements for a heat loss calculation in my house, including window and door area, wall lengths, and room volume. While you can do addition and subtraction in the GLM, I chose to import the measurements for each room into an Excel Spreadsheet and do the final calculations there. There are a couple of things to be aware of:1) The GLM doesn’t pair with IOS devices, you get a “pairing is not supported” message. So don’t try to pair it, just open the “GLM Measurement” app and press the “connect” button.2) Android is the opposite – pair Bluetooth with Android, then open the “GLM Measurement” app.

I like this because I mainly work by myself. This is so good for accurate measurements like being able to estimate lineal footage for long distances. This is one tool I always have ready for many of the projects I encounter!

I’ve had my GLM100 for a couple of months now. I’ve found it to be a great time saver. It has really good functionality, but there’s a learning curve for some of the more complex functions. The basic functions of distance measuring and adding up measurements is fairly straightforward. The more complex functions require a bit more time to learn. There is an excellent battery charger included and the finish quality is excellent. It feels like a good sturdy unit in my hand but definitely compact and easy to put in your pocket. I’ve tried the bluetooth function, but to be honest, I’m still not very good at using that feature. I will say that it connects with my Android phone with no problem, and the software seems simple enough. It costs a bit more than basic, but if you use it a lot and are doing any significant home renos, this is a great tool. I’m sure I will be using it for the landscaping work coming up in the spring as well.

Im a pipe fitter and I need to improve the sides on a fit especial for working with pipes. one side needs a marked center magnetic line of the same deivice long (pivot point center mode I’ll be good), so we can take de center of the pipe measurement easy and acurate. and the other side needs to be fitting in circumferences so we can shoot the laser straight parallel of the pipe (example <0 ) . I WANT TO USE THIS MARVEL OF THE TECHNOLOGY but is hard and lazy when pipes is about some times have to use the tradicional bored one. thnx Hermes

I bought this after our house had major damage and using a tape measure my whole life this opened up a whole new world of ease. To be able to just measure and press a button and get square footage and other things has made our project so much easier. I would recommend any of these laser measures to everyone.

It measures fine indoors. It will not work outdoors in the sunlight.
