The Bosch GLM 50 CX offers a backlit color display with large numbers to easily see measurements, letters and words to provide simplicity when using its array of features. In addition to screen enhancements, the GLM 50 CX offers Bluetooth functionality, so users can digitally transfer measurements to a smartphone or tablet. Extreme accuracy of 1/16 in.; unit has great range at 165 ft. The GLM 50 CX offers multiple modes; 3 indirect measurement modes including multi-surface area. A built-in inclinometer allows the user to determine the angle of pitch and confirm when the tool is level. Includes stakeout measurement that pinpoints recurring marks along a line, e.g. every 6 in.

Works very well indoors. Outdoors in full sunlight can be a challenge I now understand why tripods and large targets are used with lasers. It did everything expected it just gets hard in full sunlight to see if you are on target and measuring to the right point I would say anything over 15′ gets tough and being older that small dot gets awfully small.

I have had this for 1 week now and I’m not sure how I made it through the last ten years without it. It was easier and more accurate than I expected. It’s an absolute for taking quick interior measurements. I love that you can Bluetooth to your phone and input real measurements into a saved floorplan sketch. I use it for engineering and it easily switches to decimal feet and you can even adjust the decimal rounding. It also doubles as a laser pointer.

I bought it to replace an old laser measuring tool. I had no idea that laser tools from Bosch evolve so much. This display is so clear, lighted, big numbers, measurements adjusted in real time, and so much easier to work with.

i’ve not yet intensively used the GLM, but so far so good. If i have a qualm, it’s that i’d like to have the ability to round off the values to 1/8″ instead of always getting a reading of 1/32″.

The device is a high functioning tapemeasure until you get it to work with your smartphone. They give you some idea in the tutorials, but plan to spend (not waste) and evening with it. There is a whole lot that I did not find in the tutorials. If there is in depth documentation available, I did not find it and I did search.

At first I was a little scared to buy this as I am a person who measures to the 1/32″. My worries were over in a few minutes of use. Extremely accurate. The CX model comes with a nice case and also targets. Example of one use: I needed to measure an existing recessed ceiling light and install another the same distance from the wall. Holding a tape measure on the ceiling is almost impossible. This did it in a second!
