Compact, accurate and easy to use. Once I figured out how to change the display from decimals of feet to fractions of inches, the GLM 80 has become a very useful device for accurate and fast measurements for making cabinetry. I have not used it for measurements in excess of 23′ yet, but it measured the distance probably more accurately than I could do alone with my steel tape. I would definitely recommend this item. But I can offer no opinion if the 265′ measurement capability is superfluous, but I wanted it to integrate it into the optional level, which I also recommend. The GLM 80 may be overkill for many, including me (except for the level option).

My brother love this tool because help his work. The only problem was with customer service because don’t made good work with I ordered this product in the store, because the sales person don’t put good information and for this reason I did need to reorder calling to the number they wanted to call for reorder the product and then more time for wait the product. And the time for wait was very long about 15 days, others online stores when I expend more than $50 the shipping is free and very quickly, like 5 to 10 days. Bad services Home Depot.

I bought this unit to use outside. While it gives considerable precision in its readings, I haven’t checked its accuracy yet.However, there are two issues that I noticed. First, when using it outside, there is no way that one could make a measurement at the maximum range without some kind of reflector. Even at 50 feet, I needed to use a white cardboard to locate the red dot and then start moving outward to the point being measured. For greater distances, using a high reflectivity plastic roadside reflector was required. Perhaps this need should be mentioned in the manual.A second issue was the icons used in the GUI. They were not immediately obvious and somewhat obscure in their meaning. Larger, more meaningful icons would be helpful.

The cost was worth it. Measuring is so easy with this tool. Carry it on my tool belt alot. *Inadvertent on, bending or climbing a ladder. Maybe a recessed on/off button or a lock for it would help.Overall though, nice.

I utilize this tool daily to measure home sq ft. Excellent for both interior and exterior measurements. Accuracy is great. Much better than the K*balt version. Very nice tool. You can get measurements on points that you cannot physically get to. Consider a tripod when using for longer distances unless you have a steady hand.

Great measuring tool. I frequently need to get measurements where there often are obstructions, the indirect measurement is great. It’s also very handy to get the height of a building. No more balancing act trying to get a tape measure to stand up 10′, 12′ and higher.

I’ve been using the GLM 80 for the last 6 months, and I’ve been very pleased with it. The first few times I used it, I also used a steel tape. The accuracy was spot on, so now I trust it’s measurements and have not been let down.My uses are almost always indoors. It’s very easy to see the dot inside. I did try it outside, and it works great, but at a distance it’s hard to spot the red dot in the sun. I had a pair of red glasses that came with a laser level that helped some, but if I were to measure long distances outside I’d probably just grab my measuring tape.I’d definitely recommend the GLM 80 for it’s accuracy, durability and great battery life.
