As a super ( and modest ) multi faceted maintenance man, i need to reshape and, or sharpen my tools all the time. Toss these “1/4 IN. ALUMINUM OXIDE GRINDING POINT CYLINDER FOR GRINDING AND SHAPING METAL” bits in my drill and the job is done in no time. Need to waller (tech term for make bigger) out a patio door latch receiver, done. Dead bolt not striking correctly, no problem! I am still on my first one, great longevity.

It’s a beast! I wasn’t expecting something so large and heavy duty. I ended up getting 4 of them and I think those 4 may last me a lifetime. I like to have grinding bits around because they come in handy to take off little bits of metal that may be sticking out, or even to grind off a screw or bolt that is rusted in and you can’t get it out the proper way.

This 1/4 inch Aluminum Oxide Grinding Point Cylinder made by BOSCH is so much easer to use than the fixed grinder I have in the workshop and I have been using it all over the house. It’s so easy to just pop It into any drill, electric or cordless and does a Great job of shaping all types of metal from aluminum to steel and I’ve used it on both, even tried This grinding point on a plastic litter box to smooth out a bigger hole I made, so even though it’s for metal, It will work on other stuff too !! Love It !!

Very pleased with the 1/4 in. Aluminum Oxide Grinding Point Cylinder. It works great for Grinding and Shaping Metal.The 1/4 inch is made to fit all die grinders and also fits my drill. Have to admit I had never tried grinding before, I got it to take the sharp points off my old chain link fence in the yard so the kids wouldn’t get hurt when they went over it, (they never use the gate!) Took the sharp points off perfectly and it was quick and easy.

I used this grinding cylinder on my high speed Milwaukee M18 Drill. It was fabulous in grinding down shavings and cleaning up rough edges on cuts and other grinding work that I was doing. Obviously, this is not a cutting tool or designed to sharpen mower blades or reduce large amounts of metal like a regular bench grinder does. The grinding point was easy to use, did not clog easily and did not get hot during my operations. I did not grind aluminum as it is not designed to do that would likely clog. This makes for a nice fine work tool in the toolbox and takes up very little space.

The grinding bit does an OK job on light grinding needs using on light-gage metal. Grinding results are more on the side of cleaning up rough edges of thin gage metals. A design/grinding stone considered a “fine” grit material for light clean-up on metal edges, not for medium/heavier gage metals. OK considering price for bit – get what you pay for in a good sense.

This is a review of the Bosch Oxide grinding point cylinder. This is a aluminum oxide grinding for use in 1/4″ chuck type electric or air grinders. However it could also be used in a drill. Since most grinders ( air or electric ) are in the 10,000 rpm range it would work okay in a high speed drill around 2000 rpm range especially if the material is soft.. Please remember not to hold or put to much pressure against the side of the grinding drum as it can cause excessive kick back. The grinder is mainly used with steel and could be used with wood but would cause burning to the wood material due to the high speed. These should not be used with aluminum. The aluminum oxide material will fill up the stone type grinder with melted aluminum material and will be extremely hard to remove rendering the bit useless. Remember to use light pressure and let the speed or RPM do the work.

Bosch Aluminum Oxide Grinding Point Cylinder is 1-1/4″ tall and 3.4″ dia. The drill-shaft is 1/4″ and should fit in most drills or die-grinders. This bit will not fit into standard rotary tools with 1/8″ arbor.The sellers description indicate this grinder bit can be used for “fast removal” of many types of metal and is “Ideal” for grinding and shaping metal.I could not locate where either the seller or the manufacturer provided specifications, documentation or details for this abrasive bit.On the back-side of package, in the lower-right is an smallish, circular graphic indicating 22,000rpm (max?).Package indicates product made in USA.

I’ve been using Bosch products for decades in my profession as a concrete finisher/plasterer/tile setter and I’ve always been impressed with them. Most of the tools I used in the construction trade were Bosch tools and we used them for many reasons, mainly because of the quality and durability of Bosch tools. These grinding cylinders are no exception.Unlike most people, I use these grinding cylinders to finish the ends of copper tubing that I have cut. Most people will use them for other purposes. My small collection of metal grinding points are all made by Bosch and I have found them to be good quality and effective at removing material. I don’t use grinding points all the time so I always use them in my cordless drill which is well within the maximum operating speed of 22,000 RPM. Using a faster rated die grinder would be more efficient though. This cylinder shape is very handy for enlarging existing holes in metal.
