The Bosch HD21-2 2-speed hammer drill features a torque control auxiliary handle. This securely locks into place for maximum control in heavy duty drilling applications. It has a 2-speed gear box. This allows the user to match the speed to the application. This gives you either the power or precision necessary. 1/2 in. 3-Jaw Chuck for rugged hammer drilling applications. Dual-mode Selector easily converts from rotation only to hammer drill mode. Patented rotating brush plate provides equal power in reverse to easily back out bound-up bits and doubles brush life. Integral Slip Clutch helps minimize torque reaction.

Our guys use this almost daily to drill into tack strip and set into concrete. This tool keeps on working and is lightweight to handle but can drill with the best of them

The drill chews through hard concrete with ease.

I have used it for drilling holes into concrete posts for decks and also into brick and it works great with little effort as long as you have the right bit for the job. No problems with the chuck coming loose either when running in hammer mode

Bought mine a few months ago and noticed that it must be an updated version because it’s 9.2 Amps…………..a real little powerhouse! With good quality, sharp bits, it will go into masonry & concrete at a very reasonable rate short of using a rotary hammer drill for more demanding jobs. One reviewer said that his depth gauge wouldn’t hold, but if it’s put in correctly with the teeth facing the right way in the slot, it works just fine. Great little brute-of-a tool……………as expected from Bosch.

Went though 3 drills that died after a few months use before I got this one….it’s lasted as long as the others did put together and doesn’t appear to be close to giving up the ghost! I’m getting another one for my other truck for sure….

Had to replace a 30 year old Milwaukee hammer drill that needed new brushes (again) and decided it was time to upgrade. Theirs are now made in China, and while that made me a little wary, my suspicions we confirmed when I picked it up. It looked and felt cheap. This Bosch, on the other hand, is Swiss made and it is clearly built to last. At over 50,000 blows per minute, it is a beast. I’ve used it extensively for boring into masonry (tap cons, etc.) and it drills through concrete with ease in the hammer setting on second speed. Sinks screws in very nicely on the first speed. No vibrations while drilling, and I would never have thought that I could use my 6 1/4″ hole saw without seriously hurting my wrists and elbows. This thing didn’t even flinch – incredible. This is no joke – I put a 4 1/2″ hole saw through five studs at a 30 degree angle. One-handed. Above my head. It didn’t even pretend to buck. I wanted to kiss it.For the record, the only drill that gets better reviews on any site that I’ve found is the DeWalt, and the only thing it has on this drill is 10 amps. You don’t need 10 amps unless you’re ready to move up to a rotary or demo drill. And those same reviews mentioned that its chuck was a typical DeWalt chuck – prone to slipping – and pretended that it was okay. Your chuck should never slip. This one never does. It is solid, and comes with a a chuck tool that a real person can use, not just someone with tiny hands.Only gripe is that it’s too big to fit between floor joists with a hole saw or spade bit, but that’s true with any hammer drill.

This was rated best for quality and performance, and I am glad I followed those recommendations. You barely lean into it to bore a straight and clean hole… no fuss, no overheating drill motor or bits.

I bought this hammer drill to use to drill concrete. It does this, with the proper bits, better than expected. I also used it to drill holes for bolts in 4×4 and 4×6 treated posts with ease. I have a couple of other Bosch power tools and will replace all of my power tools with a Bosch equivalent as expendatures allow.

I’ve used this hammer/drill over the past 6 months drilling 3/8 inch holes for cabling through cement, brick and cinder block walls, as well as small anchor holes in cement foundations. Never had a problem with over heating but I’d recommend work gloves to reduce the vibration feeling in your hands. A stable platform (man lift, scaffolding) to work from makes the job much easier instead of trying to drill walls from a ladder. The depth gauge works great but you need to make sure to insert it in the correct position so that the plastic release grips the small indentations in the rod (gauge). Solid construction like most other Bosch equipment.

Read the other positive reviews to see what to like. The depth gauge is the only poor feature… it consistently slipped with just the slightest pressure and was useless.

Well build, rugged tool. Has a long, flexible power cord. The drill, bought from Home Depot, even came in its own standardized case.

Drills through concrete like butter

I bought this hammer drill to install networking equipment. Installing wall anchors and floor anchors is a breeze using the right bits. Measure the depth of the anchor, set the stop guide, and start hammering. Flip the switch and turn it into a regular drill that just won’t quit! I’ve been using it for over two years now, and it still drills and hammers like the day it came out of the case!

Bought this tool to drive seventeen 4″ holes thru inch thick old, hard stucco and the 3″ thick plywood backing, (using a relton drill bit). The Bosch worked great. The only improvement that I could hope for would be the addition of a dial speed control, so that one could better regulate the max speed in either low or hi mod, (HD21-2A ?).

Purchased for drilling into a 1950’s brick & concrete porch which was badly “pitted” on it’s top. Drilled 24 3/16″ holes into the concrete top / sides to take 1/4″ Tapcon anchors for the 2×6 sleepers we installed. Other than for changeing out the drill bit frequently so-as-to keep a sharp bit in action, we had no trouble what-so-ever. the HD21-2 drilled into the concrete “like going into butter”. Friends & Family laughed at the fact that my wife & I were “still talking to each other” at the end of the project. I figure this hammer drill will last me the rest of my life with no need of replacement.
