It works well. Now if I could just figure out how to get the tapered shank to release from the Tamper Plate I’d be very pleased.

The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is that the female taper on the plate is not a great match for the male taper on the [correct] shank. It does work, but the taper’s grip could be better. (Then again, if the grip was better, maybe they would be difficult to separate after heavy use, so it’s a trade-off.)THIS PLATE WILL GET THE JOB DONE. That’s what’s important! I would recommend this product even though the price seems high for what it is: a simple forging. BE SURE to get the correct shank, because Bosch has multiple types of SDS-MAX taper shanks for various hammer drill accessories! The 5″x5″ Tamper Plate uses a different shank from the 8″x8″ taper plate even though both are SDS-MAX. Other Bosch hammer drill accessories may use entirely different shanks. Why they are not all a standard interchangeable Morse Taper is a complete mystery, as the Morse Tapers are a standard which is recognized worldwide.
