This jig saw is designed for right-handed people and I only recommend it for right-handed people. The on/off switch is difficult to use with your left hand and does not feel safe because you cannot turn it off easily with your left hand. Other than that major design fail, it is an excellent heavy duty jig saw.

This barrel model was a replacement of an older top handle Bosch saw which I’ve used for years. The much easier blade change was the primary reason for the purchase, and I had thought the barrel design might be easier to use. The blade change device is fantastic, but I’ve found the barrel design harder to use. It’s also louder (more amps?) and the body (which is where you obviously hold it) gets very warm (hot) with any extended use. In hindsight, I’d go for the top handle if I had to do it over again.

Being 80 years young, it was too heavy for me & the switch required my two hands to put on & off. Being a Bosch devotee, having owned some in the past, it was very disappointing that I returned it. I only gave it 3 stars because of this.

This jigsaw is amazing. More power than you’ll ever need & the dust blower does the job. The barrel body feels good in the hand & has good weight to keep it on the material nicely. Turns on a dime & all the adjustments are easy to make. The case is adequate & has room for extra blades. I haven’t found any cons yet. Hopefully the last jigsaw I’ll have to purchase for a long time.

Paired it with some Bosch blades and it cuts like a dream through cedar. I put the anti-vibration footer on it and really enjoyed using it. The weight of the saw makes it so you barely have to push down onto what you’re cutting to keep it in place.

If you like power then this is the jigsaw for you. Best feature is the hot blade ejector. Snap a blade? Just turn the release leaver and the spring assist pops the blade out. I can not say enough great things. Get one you will not be sorry!

It’s stated that this is a variable speed. It is in fact NOT. So just FYI, if you’re expecting as I was a variable speed you may be disappointed. However it does work cery well but will have some challenges as I use it with different materials. If this was a variable speed, I would likely have rated it 5stars.

Its still quite loud but it cuts much better than my 1970 craftsman jigsaw. The vibrations are much less severe as well. The quick blade release works very well although the blade “shoots” out where it would be nice if it drops out. The biggest fear I had was that it would be too wide to comfortably grip but unless you’re the president you will be fine. It would be nice if it came with the dust collection parts thats why it has 4/5 otherwise its very nice

I preferred the top handled version versus the barrel grip model. So, I found a top handled one at my local Home depot and exchanged the barrel gripped one. I Love my new top handled Bosch 7 amp jig saw . I has lots of power and maneuverability .
