The Bosch 2.3 HP Fixed Base Router is powered by a robust 15 Amp motor. It features a smart, handle-mounted trigger with lock-on button. The variable speed dial and soft start give you complete control. Constant-Response circuitry maintains constant speed under load. Bright LED lighting illuminates when the router is plugged in to provide enhanced visibility in the bit area.

Seems good so far. Have it set up on a router table so the power button (located on the handle) is sort of awkward to get to, so far that’s my only complaint.

I like the soft start & the lights in the cutting area & the switch on the handle. This a “culture shift” for me as I am replacing a 20+ year old Craftsman router which served me well however, it is made with a lot of plastic versus the metal alloy body of the Bosch making it heavier.

I needed a router that could handle hardwood such as hickory. This router did not bog down when doing a 3/4″ round over on hickory. The soft start is really great at reducing torque effects at startup. The hand grips provide great control and still being comfortable. The trigger switch on the hand grip also aids in control.

I bought this tool because of its trigger control at the handle. It’s a great feature for safety reasons. The unit has one design shortcoming, however, which is that they put power cord on the front of the machine along the cutting path. It would have been better to put it at 90 degrees if at all possible.

Parts convey attention to real world use and details. You must pause for a moment operating free hand to wait for motor to reach set speed which is more refined and manageable than hard start designs, cutting 1/2 inch box joints through thick oak the power was well regulated. A convienant hex key elevation adjustment can be made with both hands mounted above the router table . This permits dialing in bit depth while using a reference gauge to verify precision, overall impression after two months is that this tool is very well designed and made with quality parts an d solutions.

This is a game changer, mounted in a table it is so nice to adjust from the top, easy to remove to change bits. Variable speed and soft start are bonuses, plenty of power for table mount jobs.

This was an upgrade from my 1 HP 1/4″ shank router. I needed the 1/2″ shank capability and additional power of 2.3 HP. I love the smooth startup feature. I have this device mounted under my router table and using the device has been a pleasure. The extra power makes cutting all hardwood easy, the larger shank allows me to use some new bits. And the height adjustment is accessible from the top of the table – really convenient. My previous router did not have these features. I’m really pleased with this product.

I picked this router mainly because of the trigger switch which would be more enjoyable without the soft start feature. The 2-wrench collet works better than the competitors’. I had just finished making a clear base for another router, so naturally I am real pleased with this clear base. This router also seams to be quieter than my others. I love the height adjustment system, especially the way it can be used in a router table.

This is a solid router. My old large router was getting tired and it was time to upgrade. I’ve had this a few months now and been extremely pleased. Its funny when you’ve been using the same tool for 10 or 20 years and then fast forward into current technology…soft start, LED, handheld trigger…wow. This thing has tons of power, hogs thru wood without changing pitch much at all. I’m a huge fan of my mini router for one handed ease of use (an essential part of the router herd for sure) but this bosch is so smooth and stable I’m using it often on small jobs too. Glad I purchashed it. I’m thinking it might be time to upgrade my boat anchor wormdrive next!
