I bought this to supplement the 1617 I have in my router table. I was tired of having to take it in and out all the time. At first I was a little wary about the size of this router, but then got used to it. Other than an issue I had to get repaired when the router was a week old, it has performed flawlessly with some slight ergonomic challenges. -PROs*Powerful*handle-mounted power is great*LED worksurface illuminationCONs*Big and Heavy. smaller framed people might have difficulty handling it. *Plunge lever needs to be a bit closer. Using this for a while causes hand cramping due to awkward angle. *Many people have noted it…the dust collection accessories for this could be better.

I am not much of a router user. I have had a few of them. In comparison this machine is head and shoulder above the others I have. The first time I plugged it in and hit the switch I had to actually look to see if it started up. Yes, the soft start is that good. The trigger on the handle is one of the best things ever done to a router. I feel so much safer not having to remove a hand from the machine to start and stop it. Everything is smooth and tight and functions well. Overall I would say that it incorporates some great engineering features that make it a pleasure to use.
