The screw tip makes this bit too aggressive for me. But I am 77 and getting weak so, people with normal strength may not have my problem.

Forget the regular wood drill bit. This heavy duty, out of this world quality bit will make a hole in a fraction of the time of yesterday’s design. I average about five seconds to go through the standard joist (1 1/2″). Pricey but worth it especially if you’re working overhead. Comes in a very protective plastic tube to keep it from being dinged in your tool box.
